Pens vs Isles

It's a big step forward in respectability for NYI to be here in the first place.

I don't know how Pittsburgh fared against them this season, but in previous years they used to slaughter them. Crosby was usually good for 5 points a game against the Isles.

Pittsburgh is way too deep, at every single position, to lose this one.

Don't expect Islanders to win this series by any means.  Perhaps they may take a game from the Penguins, but realistically speaking, it's Pittsburgh's calling.

Yes, it's a step up for the Isles.  Their younger players, including some fresh draft talent (such as Ryan Strome) will most likely benefit even more from a longer season next year.  It'll be interesting to see where that gets them.  Isles fans will have greater expectations next season.  As one, I'm keeping my hopes up for greater things to come.

GO ISLES GO!!!

Pens, will come out here. It will take a better team then this to even threaten the pens. Pitt will be a hard team to knock out.

I'm interested to see how Tavares makes out in his first playoffs. But yeah - completely agree that the Pens are just plain too good to miss. I'd take them in 5 or 6.

I'll give the Isles a game or two here. Maybe.

It would be nice for the Pens if they could win the series without Crosby coming back to give that jaw of his a bit more time. Some people may hate him, but I think hockey is worse for having its best player on the sidelines.

Absolutely correct. :)

I think we all knew this series was going to a bloodbath. If the Pens get Crosby back before they end it, it's going to awfully humbling for the Islanders.

Ugh! What a humbling loss.  And to think Pittsburgh was still without Monsieur Crosby...

It would be nice if the Islanders could win at least a game.  :)

GO ISLES!!

A couple of really weak goals by the Pens - the first one was practically from the corner, and the fifth one was from the same horrible angle. Isles won't win anything with goaltending like that.

coming back, Crosby's lost a step:  2 goals, 8 shots so far part way through the 3rd.  Malkin with 10 shots, 1 and 1.
