Pens vs Isles

I-S-L-A-N-D-E-R-S!!!  Sorry, Sidney, this game wasn't yours to win!

Kyle Okposo scored with just a little over seven minutes remaining in the third period with the go-ahead winning goal for the Islanders.  Final score:  4-3 for New York.

Persistency definitely paid off for the Islanders, rallying from a 3-1 deficit courtesy of Crosby's two goals.  Great effort!

NBC is streaming it free online: http://stream.nbcsports.com/nhl/?pid=38&referrer=http://www.nhl.com/ice/scores.htm

Thanks for the links. However, neither of my browsers seem to want to play the video (errors on page, etc.).

Just wondering if the two goals by the Isles in the 3rd were good goals, or if Fleury is up to his old sieve tricks.

Fleury's looked ordinary, but, they weren't of the soft variety.

Statistically, this is his *best* save percentage in a playoffs since going to the first finals against Detroit in 2008.

Through 3 games, sure - 2 of which he's posted a Sv% of .905 or lower.

1 excellent, and 2 sub par games, absolutely...but this isn't the same level of effort he had last playoffs.

Or the same quality of opponent.

Wow what a game, Isles surprise, they are up 5-4 now with less than 10 to play.  Come from behind win for them in the third.  No d in this game. Tavares is incredible, he really is.

Individual games play a huge role in it but his SV% drops below .900.  If it stays that way for the postseason he would be on a 4-year run of <.900 SV% in the postseason.

5 of 7 <.900; 6 of 7 <.910

He's just not a good goalie.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's not a good goalie, but, he's definitely not a great goalie or one that lives up the hype he sometimes gets. He doesn't handle pressure particularly well, and, his regular season numbers are decidedly middle of the pack as far as starting goalies go. He's good enough to be a starter, but, he's not the franchise goalie he was expected to be when he was drafted.

What an awful insurance goal against Fleury, 6-4 Isles in the dying seconds.  Think Pittsburgh might talk goalies with Vancouver this summer?

I have to think there has to be something said for coaching here too. Admittedly, I haven't watched any of the Pens/Isles series but because of it's superficial statistical resemblance to the Flyers series last year it does seem like there's something problematic with how they're playing.

That, or, Marc-Andre Fleury simply forgets how to play in the post-season.

I wonder if maybe Fleury's repeated playoff flops force them to consider approaching the Nyucks about Luongo.
