Why even bother listening to these media tools?  Leafs have stunk for a long time, I get it, I'm a fan, I watch the games, I don't need to be reminded at all times they stink.

It's so much nicer not having Howard Berger around.

To the others, you obviously don't know humour when you read it. Given that the rest of his article was written in light spirit, you cannot simply take one line that is factually incorrect, and seize on it. It's obvious the article was a joke. Your apparent hatred of the author seems to be clouding your judgement.

False? Just going with the 23-7 ratio (24-6 until this year.)... and of course reduced by 1 because he plays for one.

I don't really know the answer.  I just remember a commentator stating that Kessel enjoys playing against the Canadian teams because he has scored a lot of goals against them and not so many against teams like the Bruins, Flyers and Rangers.  I was hoping someone could answer the question so that I could then lay in to the commentator if he was wrong.  Of course I would have to remember who the commentator was, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Couple of late additions to Morning Papers including a great read from Stephen Brunt and Kessel was a Thrashers killer.


Hopefully Kessel can carry that over and treat the Jets the same!

Probably false because of just the numbers. However from what I can find his numbers are pretty good against Canadian teams. Last year he scored 9 goals and 6 assists in 18 games against Canadian teams. The year before he was even better scoring 12 goals and 5 assists in 14 games against Canadian clubs.

If it's true that he is a Thrashers killer, and it's true that he enjoys he greatest success against Canadian teams, then tonight could be the perfect storm for awesomeness.

Or, they could end up cancelling each other out and we get our first "Same old Phil" headline of the season tomorrow.
 
On the point about meaningless goals, From 2007-2010, Kessel has scored 3-6-5-6 GWG respectively for each season.  He also has the 10th most goals scored during that time frame.

Through his career so far, he has scored nearly double the number of goals pre-all star vs post. So he's done ok in the "BER" months.

Trying to confirm, but think I saw a stat early this morning fly by on twitter that between 2007 and now he is behind only Crosby for the most goals scored per games played.

Speaking of which.... I read the other day (and was slightly shocked by it) that the all-time goal per game leader is Mike Bossy. Man'o'man... what a career but imagine what it would have been if it wasn't cut short?

So two years ago he had 12 goals in 14 games against Canadian teams and 18 goals in 56 games against American teams.  So percentage wise you could say that he enjoys playing against teams for the great white north.

Last year he scored 9 goals in 18 games against Canadian teams and 23 goals in 64 games against American teams.  Again the goal scoring percentage points to an enjoyment of playing towards Canadian teams.

This clearly means that this American born winger hates being a Toronto Maple Leaf ( the Canadian flag is practically on the jersey) and that he is most likely going to bolt for the Rangers when he becomes a free agent.
