Possible Lupul suspension

garbage. Cook puts someone for the rest the season and get nothing. load of BS

What, you want suspensions any time a player is injured?  These two plays couldn't be more different.

No I dont, Cook has a long history for dirty plays, and deserved several games, and did not get one.

Punishment fit the crime i think...If the tables were turned I think most people here pretty satisfied with the verdict

Think one game would have been enough given he had no history of dirty play.

#FreeJoffreyLupul

I forgot to tell you, since you didn't think he'd get any games I made a bet between us and now you have to streak during the Jays home opener.

Fine, but, I'll be doing that streaking alone in my apartment.

Joffrey Lupul suspension video: http://bit.ly/Z3r2Wz

Thanks for the link!  I would have liked to see clips of similar hits that received similar suspensions.

The angle they show in that video makes it more clear that he was leaving his feet as he made the check, which does make it worse than I thought from the clips they aired during the game.  Still, I think 1 would have sufficed.

I only see him lift up one foot. Not exactly "leaving your FEET".

Not sure what the rules are on that but I think it's worth noting. IMO the it isn't that bad and 1 game would've been plenty.

what a load of crap.... 1 game at most for that soft hit. like i said he was putting on a show for the gms. friggen shanny... watta cave into the gms.

Hedman does have his head bent down too, I mean the guy is 6'6".

Don't think he deserved more than 1, but probably not going to beat Boston anyway.

His other foot does come off the ice just before he delivers the hit, but, it's not like he launches himself into Hedman. 2 games is probably a game too many, though, I still think a fine would have probably been enough here. I'm all for the league cracking down on hits to the head, though.

Disappointed as I am about this, my gut seen this coming.  I think it was a good call on Shanny and I don't think anybody should get a free pass on head shots, history or not they are dangerous.

If he were on another team, I'd probably think it was light. So, in the balance, not much you can do. A dumb mistake.

Hopefully this just means he comes out all full of piss and vinegar again in that second game against Boston. That could conceivably lead to a win!

I remembered earlier in the year where a player wasn't suspended and the commentators were saying it would be hard to justify other suspensions in light of a lack of one in that instance.

After searching I think it's this one: Stuart on Landeskog

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HGdXqc7ISU

If Lupul's hit is worth 2 games and this 0 then I fail to see what the NHL is trying to say about hits.

Stuart gets his arms (elbow?) up into Landeskog's head. He suffers a concussion. Either the Stuart hit is worse or they're equal. Sending a message that Lupul's hit is a lot worse than the Stuart hit is something I don't understand.

Stuart is right in front of him, for what it's worth.
