Predators @ Maple Leafs - Dec. 9th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Lajoie with a chance to let it go after the Marner shot but let's take it around the net. Not going to score if you don't shoot.

Wow what a penalty one hand on your stick how much can you actually hook someone. Love tap equals 2 minutes. What a joke of a league it's becoming.

Lajoie playing well.

I have also been impressed with what Ive seen of Lajoie. He is definitely the most mobile fill in option we have seen on backend. Seems to move the puck with confidence.

He let somebody get in behind him for a goal in his first game and then he got benched.  But he looks good tonight and they can use some motor back there.

Think I'd rather see Jones in net quite frankly. Honestly can't believe how this D hasn't been upgraded yet and probably due to the team still winning.

Probably due to the difficult nature of trading in the NHL these days.
Tre should def overpay to get something done or maybe just snap his fingers...lol

I was gonna say I don't think it's for a lack of trying.

Right handed D making less that a million per for a 7th round pick. Not saying he's a major improvement but trades are out there.

Isles GM Lou Lamoriello wasted no time plugging a leak on Friday afternoon, acquiring rugged veteran defenseman Robert Bortuzzo from the St. Louis Blues for a 2024 seventh-round pick.
Plug is the key word. You want to improve the D. We have enough 8th 9th D men so good non trade.

I'm not saying they should have went after him all Im saying is there are deals to be made. Whether it's an upgrade or not is debatable but I 100% think Treliving can upgrade this crappy D without mortgaging much. Look what Zadorov went for and I'd take him over Lagesson and Benoit any day of the week. Yes supposedly Calgary didn't want to deal with Tre which who knows if that was true but upgrading this team can and should have been done already. Like I said if we hadn't been pulling out these wins we'd be seeing a lot more action on the trade front.
What part are you missing? Zadorov went with a 3.75M hit. That's an insane cap hit for a bottom pairing D man. Oh add in the fact that the Leafs didn't have that space when he was traded. If you want to improve the D you need to aim a lot higher then Zadorov and wasting 3.75 on him would have been a brutal move.

I'm getting frustrated with the nonchalant powerplay.  1 for their last 16 and lazy slow passes that don't open up shooting lanes is creeping back in.

What part are you missing? What I'm bloody saying is there are trades to be made. Whether it's slight upgrades on what you have or having to pay to get a guy like Zadorov you do what you have to do to improve the team. Are you telling me if there was any interest in Zadorov someone couldn't have been sent out Calgary's way to eat up some of the contract? I didn't say go out and get Z or Bortuzzo I said improvements can be made.

Been complaining about them for a while. Told you they should be stapled to the bench and start the second unit. Tired of the coddling and no accountability with this bunch. Maybe that's what they need to get their heads out of their ass*s.

I think Treliving has been looking since he became GM.
For all the names rumored, there are probably twice as many they've been in discussions on.
Klingberg $ probably froze the decision - different better options could open up if his $ became available. Recently, it has.
It is hard to judge unless you are a fly on the wall.
With Woll's injury, the pressure to get help has increased.
I'm sure they're beating the bushes.
At the same time, whatever they do, they have to be pretty sure. They don't have a lot of picks, prospects or cap space to waste.
They've probably got a handful of possibilities. If those are not appealing, they might sit tight as more teams fall out of playoff contention.
They're going to add a dman. I'm sure of it. Patience.

Matthews is insanely skilled.  i don't ever want to start taking what he does with the puck for granted.

Pass pass pass pass pass pass and then absolutely nothing

This PP is so frustrating.  When things are going well it's fine.  I wish they would do a little more deflection work when they aren't clicking

Oh I'm sure something will be done Treliving knows like the rest of us this D needs improvement. All I'm looking at is the fill ins have done admirably but I think we could have done better. Again I think nothings been done because we have been winning a lot of games we shouldn't have hence no panic on managements end. I said it before a major deal needs to be done to bring an actual bonafide D man that we haven't had in years.

Biggest problem is they don't simplify it. Always looking for the nice play thus the pass pass pass waiting for that opportunity. Fire it on net with someone in front. In the end a greasy goal is just as good as that tic tac toe on the scoreboard.
