Predators vs. Maple Leafs - Dec. 4th, 7:30pm - SN, Fan 590

Resurrection may not be the best word to use then.

9th highest cap hit in the league, 55th in total points this year so far.

25th in points in the league since signing with the Leafs.

Where is the value in that?

I think he has been paid handsomely for his services as a Leaf. If he's looking for much over $6m a year, I would not do it.
That’s all well and good but let’s not pretend that he wasn’t getting this much or more from another team when he was a UFA. He was walking away with 11+ mil from somebody. The leafs didn’t pull a Jason Blake/Clarkson “no one else would have given them that money” type contract with Tavares. How it aged is another story, but it was UFA market value at the time.

Since signing with the Leafs, Tavares is ~14th in scoring among NHL centers.
He's low maintenance. One of the best in the faceoff dot. He plays two ways.
I think the Leafs are lucky to have had him.

We seem to be getting a disproportionate number of these fluke goals this year.

Crazy unlucky and then the softest call ever. Even though Matthews was getting held and had to shoot one handed.

You need to fall down for the refs to see that a penalty was happening...but then they might randomly call a dive

Nylander at the blueline was more of a penalty than the Tavares one but hey it gave an odd man rush to Nashville so you can't call that
