Preseason: Maple Leafs @ Canadiens - Sept. 28th, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

I don't understand these debates on Robertson at this point.  He's been good in camp.  He has done his job scoring a few goals.  Will his defensive game keep him in the lineup at the trade deadline, maybe/maybe not but it seems absurd to have any discussion with him not in the lineup

Holy moly what a rip

I love that Robertson is using more low shots. The puck gets to the net faster along the ice

Obviously we don't want to be talking about Murray or Hildby starting a lot of games but I really like our goaltending depth

Hmm? lol

Can?t push the goalie into the net to move the puck across the line lolilololol
I think that's why it was called no goal. If Roy did nothing, it's probably a goal.

Should I credit the Marlies or should I just laugh at the Habs NHL power play that received like 5 gift calls en route to going 0-8

Uh that should be an ejection
Instigator, fighting with gloves against a non-participant (to the back of the head), game misconducts (2,5,10)
That's the right call...good on the refs. Jerk move really. It's fine to go after him but don't keep punching him in the back of the head.

Any other sport and that is a lengthy suspension.

Is what Xhekaj did that much different to what Bertuzzi did to Steve Moore?

Yes, in that Pare saw it coming - they tangled a little before Xhekaj went bezerk on him - and he didn?t get his head slammed into the ice the same way. Also, happened in the same game as the hit that angered the Habs, not the previous game. Less premeditation. We see multiple incidents like this one every season, unfortunately.

It?s a bad, no question and should be a lengthy suspension (it won?t be, but it should be), but it?s not Bertuzzi level bad. Few incidents are.

Player Safety continues to not really care about player safety.

They?re going to say this was a hockey play (gloved punches to the back of the head are not dangerous = consistent with Bettman?s interpretation of CTE) and there was no injury from the assault, hence just a fine.

Nevermind that they normally come down hard on retaliatory actions with intent after non-calls that injured a player because the offender was not wearing blue and white.

It looked like Pare was trying to make upper body contact with Laine when their legs collided.
It looked like a devastating knee injury but it did not strike me as intentional. Xhekaj's reaction seemed over the top and the league's lack of reaction to it means we'll see more of the same in the future.

I'm at a point where commenting on it seems like a waste of time.
