First pre-season game of the year is tomorrow night in London. According to Paul Hendrick, this is the Leafs roster for the game:

Forwards: Ashton, Biggs, Bodie, Booth, Broll, Carrick, Findlay, Frattin, Holland, Kadri, Kontiola, Kozun, Leivo, McKegg, McLaren, McMillan, Smith, Watling and Winnik

Defencemen: Finn, Granberg, Holzer, Knodel, Mikkelson, Nilsson, Percy, Rielly and Tallinder.

Goalies: Gibson, Heeter

I don't really know if there's a max roster limit for preseason games, but I'm assuming this is just the group that will be traveling to London and some will be sitting out (not like they could fit them all on the bench even if they wanted to). Gibson and Heeter will split the net, Heeter playing against the team that didn't give him a qualifying offer in June. Interesting to see Kontiola in this group but not Nylander and Kessel given they've been playing on a line during scrimmages. But that's obviously just another reason not to read too much into line-ups this time of year.

The Flyers will be playing two games tomorrow night, so their training camp will be split in half. It's been confirmed that Lecavalier, Umberger, Voracek, Brayden Schenn, Raffl, Streit, Coburn, MacDonald and Emery will be playing in Washington, so we'll probably be seeing Luke Schenn, Simmons, Read, Couturier, Rinaldo, Rosehill, Grossman, Del Zotto, and Mason.

It's great to see a game day thread again, even if it's only preseason.

By the way, where has Komarov been in all this? I haven't heard his name mentioned in a while.

This has pretty much been the only update regarding Komarov:

Lance Hornby ‏@sunhornby  22h
Leo Komarov getting hit as much as he's dishing out. Playing on a line with young guns Connor Brown and Greg McKegg at camp.

Nonis also said earlier he could see Komarov getting some time on the powerplay this season, but I'd say that's like Carlyle saying last September that McLaren might kill some penalties.

With that said, the team hasn't even played a preseason game yet obviously so I wouldn't worry about the lack of updates to this point.

As much as I dislike pre-season, it's so good to have hockey back.  Just over two weeks to go before the real fun starts.

I'm guessing that the Winnik-Holland-Frattin line might be a projection for the regular 3rd line, once the season starts.

No game looks for Finn at all.  Mildly interesting.
He looked poor defensively in the rookie tournie.

He was also cut by a skate during the scrimmage, minor facial laceration I think.

He will probably get in to a game or two down the line.

It's his first year as a pro and he's definitely not ready. He's better off working on things with the Marlies, even during pre-season. The only real competition on the Leafs is for the #7 spot, and Finn is not part of the in consideration there. His skating also needs some work. Better to not have him get exposed for the same of his confidence.

Still early, but anyone south of the border know if this will be broadcast online (or on DirecTV)?

The Flyers website doesn't have anything listed for it under broadcast information, so I'm guessing no. I'm sure there will be a link to a stream around here when the game starts.

I really think Frattin's spot in the line-up depends entirely on whether the Kontiola experiment works or not. Because if Kontiola can stick at 3C/4C, then we pretty clearly have 8 wingers ahead of Frattin (Kessel, JVR, Lupul, Clarkson, Booth, Santorelli, Komarov, Winnik). He really doesn't stand much of a chance at taking a job away from one of those 8. His only hope is if Kontiola is a bust and they have to move Santorelli to centre, which would open up a spot for Frattin/Bodie/Ashton/Nylander.

Thanks, I'll check back later
