He doesn't look overly fast out there.  Reminds me a little of Rickard Wallin a few years back... Let's hope he turns out to be better than that.

Yeah, I wonder if Underhill is going to work with him at all. His strides look pretty awkward. Looks like Antropov skating but he's not as tall so he's not covering as much ground/ice.

Holzer has been downright nasty during this game, like the look of that as a bottom pair/7th guy.

He seems to be trying to engage more offensively too. I've liked what I've seen. Granberg should be in the AHL to continue developing. Mikelsson really didn't seem like anymore more than a career AHLer. So unless Tallinder has a good camp Holzer should be the 7 guy.

Holzer who now at 26 years old makes the most sense.  Cheap, serviceable, has paid his dues and really isn't in the team's long term plans so you don't mind him spending a lot of time in the press box.

Kadri on the top PP unit please.

As they just mentioned, let's see how he does in the circle first.

Had virtually identical FO% on PP last year as Bozak, fwiw (54% vs 53%).

That's quite surprising, I stand corrected.  I was more referring to his .45 for the season.

Thought Kadri and Rielly were the two best players, which shouldn't be surprising. Also happy with Nilsson and Holland's play. I've thought for a little while now that Nilsson was our best defence prospect, and while it was just one game tonight supported that for me.

Holzer looked very good to me.  Mind you, I would hope so as he was mostly playing against AHL/junior players and he looked like he has mastered the AHL level last year.  He was physical and using his size pretty effectively but was actually pretty decent with the puck on his stick.

Nilsson really impressed me.

Rielly I found to be pretty quiet which wasn't that bad because I think he looked like he was having a quiet control game as opposed to a wild chasing offense type of effort.

Kontiola was forgettable in his debut.

I watched only a very little bit of the game last night. That play by play guy has to be the worst that I have ever heard. His voice screeches for every little play. Very annoying.

Nice homecoming performance by Kadri.  Clicked well on a line with Booth.  They both impressed.

Liked Holzer and the way he handled the rough situations, such as his encounter with the Flyers' Simmonds.

From the glimpses of Nilsson and Loov I have seen so far, I am trying to figure out why they haven't shown a little more offence in Sweden.  They look pretty mobile out there and decent with the puck from Rookie Tourney to now.

From what I've seen of the Swedish League (and in European competition) Swedish hockey is generally lower scoring and much more defense first in general so I can understand points totals being lower.

I agree 100%. I hope we don't have to hear this guy all season.

To clarify, I don't think he had quite the same type of game as Kadri did. It was clear this was a warm-up for him. But there were a bunch of occasions where it seemed like all of a sudden he thought "ok, it's time to be Morgan Rielly now" and he looked dominant to me.

I was hoping for a better game from him, but we do need to realize that he's probably the one player who needs the most adjusting to the NHL (probably moreso than Nylander even).

I still find it difficult (which must also be frustrating for the players too) to read too much into how they looked because there's still such a mish-mash of players out there.  Rielly, for instance, is probably a player who thrives in a more controlled game with only actual NHL players.

The first few games of preseason I feel like half the players are just out there trying to drive someone through the boards.

We don't, Leafs TV doesn't have any games this year.

I believe that guy is the London Knights play by play guy for Rogers local TV.
