Qualifier Game 2: Blue Jackets @ Leafs - Aug. 4th, 4:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Boy, that really was a nasty crosscheck from Dubois there. He reached back and threw that with such effort. I'm sure, though, that the league will instead want to look at Spezza's infraction. I mean his stick blade almost touched the Columbus guy's stick for crying out loud!
I just looked at that cross check again. Holy lord that was brutal. You wonder if Kadri would've been suspended for that.

Amazing what slowing it down does. IMO it looked like nothing during the play and really neither did Muzzin falling. Slow it down and its a bad crosscheck and an injury.

I'm not sure that it's suspendable but it  was certainly a stupid play. Something that definitely warrants a punch in the teeth

I wasn't expecting a suspension but to call it a "freak play"? Come on. He cross checked him from behind within striking distance of the boards.

Yeah. And, it wasn't exactly a love-tap, either. There was some force behind it.

If Kadri did that against the Bruins (and the player had to be stretched off the ice) he'd be gone for sure.

Without a doubt. If Muzzin goes face first into the boards, instead of on an angle, Dubois is probably looking at a suspension on this one, too. That's an unacceptable play, and should have earned at least a fine (as ineffective as they may be).

Yeah a fine would have at least indicated that there should have been a penalty on the play.

Our defense and goaltending looked so much better when the puck was in the other zone. And by the time the Jackets got the puck into our end of the rink, they were too gassed to do anything substantial, leading to Werenski and Jones both thinking they needed to pinch (at the same time).

I also noticed we didn't try to finesse goals too much, and Jason Blaked a good number of rushes with forwards converging to see if a rebound would materialize.

I've made that argument on Twitter and I had a guy tell me the Kerfoot crosscheck on Erik johnson where he got 2 games was worse. I honestly disagree. There isn't a chasm of 0 games and no penalty vs 2 games. Cracking someone's vertebrae is not part of the game.

Agreed. The Kerfoot crosscheck was from a worse position on the ice (Johnson facing the boards vs Muzzin not), but the crosscheck itself was much less violent/forceful. If Kerfoot put the same force into it as Dubois did, Johnson would have been seriously injured.
