Leafs deserved to lose, but the fans deserved a game where they could actually watch a competitive game about the players, not the stripes.

6 of the 8 series are now being led by the lower seeded teams, only Boston and Carolina have won the first game and are the favorites, odd.

ZAR's giveaway set the tone for the night, ZAR is one of those guys that screams I'm not worthy and just about anybody is an upgrade to me. There's something about TO that brings out the worst in depth players, for instance Amadio, he didn't look like any sort of player in his 3 TO games but managed 11 goals in 53 games with Vegas last year and 16 goals with them this year.

Maybe a sign of a good coach is bringing out more from lesser players rather than simply piling more TOI on better players. We saw/have seen other team's 3rd and 4th lines be far more effective than what we see from TO's especially in the playoffs.

Supposedly TO's lesser players PK, they do just not effectively, especially in the playoffs which has been the case for every Leaf team of the Matthew era. Nylander, Matthews and maybe even Rielly should've been used to PK far more during the regular season. It's one thing to be a middle of the pack PKing team during the regular season against teams like Anaheim but being middle of the pack isn't as noteworthy in the playoffs.

TO's d is horrendous, pretty well none of the d-men can move or handle the puck under pressure, that includes Rielly, physicality is only a complimentary characteristic, having talent is and will always be the most necessary component. TO's woeful offensive stats from the defense is a primary indicator of how talentless they are.

Probably going to be another short playoff.
