R1: Washington Capitals (M1) vs. Montreal Canadiens (WC2)

OT
Logan Thompson over reacted on the second goal - was way out to the right of the net
Habs with assist from Refs to get a PP won the 3rd period.
Big opportunity to make a series of it.

Kasperi Kapanen for the OT winner as the upstart Canadian team steals a playoff game against the Capitals?

Story of the game so far to me. I don't get the strategy
I don't think it's strategy. Early 1st round games are often a little more wide open. Teams are often still working on transitioning to the more typical playoff style hockey we're used to. That's why we often see big goal totals. Things usually tighten up around game 3 or 4. Expect that to happen in this series.

Caps better hope you're right because that kind of play lets the Habs into the series.
It had to be expected - it is the nature of the Habs team.
You'd think they would have made some in game adjustments to clamp it down. But they didn't do it successfully.
For Leafs fans sake, I hope they play firewagon hockey to stretch out the series and wear the Caps down.

Not as much run and gun tonight but more room than would be ideal.
Caps were the better team in the first two periods.
Habs were the better team in the 3rd
I think (not positive) Habs shot attempts were 70 to the Caps 61
Caps with the empty net goal with a second left to win 3-1
Habs will go home for a final shot at making a series of it.
Thompson has been giving up a bunch of rebounds they just missed capitalizing on.
The Habs have taken it right down to the final second in both games in Washington.
Maybe they can leave a mark in Montreal. (I hope so)

BTW I can't believe Demidov slew foot/tripped Wilson like that. He's gonna get crushed ........maybe by the Russian Machine.

I think Washington can beat Montreal without Thompson but it's absolutely a series up in the air now.

The winner of Toronto/Ottawa and Florida/Tampa has a far worse second round either way than the winner of Montreal/Washington and Carolina/NJ
