R1G2: Leafs @ Bruins - May 4th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

So who was it in here saying Leafs couldn't play with these guys and would be swept ??

Well me for sure.  :-[  I just didn't want to get any hopes up - even at winning one game. But we have - at least no sweep  :)

Frattin was huge tonight! I hope Carlyle saw his value in the lineup tonight and will keep him in. He was effective against Chara and stood him up a few times.

Seeing that makes me miss TO at this time of year. If we make it to the next round i might have to go on a trip to see a game or at least come to TO and have a blast like they all seemed to be having.

Get it off.  Get it off.  I'm covered in some sort of happy feeling.  Leafs fans aren't supposed to feel this way.

Aside from a few minutes that was as complete a game as the Leafs have played in the last 20+ games.

The Leafs obviously are going to be in tough to pull off a series win, but they had to win at least one on the road so getting a split is pretty important.

Reimer has been huge for the team.  .925 SV%.  Making big saves when the game is on the line.

This is my #1 thought, he looked great out there and basically scored a goal. He better stay in the line up, same with Gardiner who looked a bit shaky earlier but played great overall. O'byrne looked unnoticeable - which is good for a dman without offensive talent.

That was a completely different team. Night and day difference between how they played tonight and how they played the majority of the season.

If they can keep that up they have a fighting chance.

They have to watch themselves letting up a bit. It only took them two bad shifts to completely lose momentum.

That was as good a game as I have ever seen Kessel play.

It even looked like he was talking smack, unprovoked. I love that. Michael Jordan is my all time favorite athlete so I don't mind when a guy talks and then backs it up. And boy, did Kessel back it up tonight. He was all over the place.

All I can add is another voice to say that was a great effort by this team .. and one that I can't say I expected. I was hoping for some luck, a bad call in their favor, a fluke goal or a bounce. But they decided the game without much of that. They played very well, pretty smart and tough (44 hits vs the Bruins 35 scored by a Bruins scorer) against a smart, physical team that has traditionally given them fits. I'm a little proud of them tonight as this win seems special and will be probably notable in their growth as a team.

Just checked the highlights on NHL.com from the point of view of the Boston announcers - I have to say that at least on the goal calls, they kept the level of excitement up. Of course they were more excited when Boston scored, but that's to be expected. When I was growing up, that was the kind of game I liked called - someone who was selling the game instead of just their team. Kudos.

JVR is so much better then Schenn.

Thank you Schenn.

I certainly think the JVR-Schenn trade has been beneficial to Toronto this year, but apparently Schenn had a good year with Philly too -- played like a top 4 defenseman.

I always liked Schenn as a person and hope he does well.

Man enough to admit I shed a small tear at that, speaks volumes about their character that they could put together a game like that after most had written them off.

That's what's likely to happen when this team plays smart and works hard.  They've proven they can give Boston a game.

So glad to see Frattin in the lineup; Gardiner had a good game, too, a bad giveaway not withstanding.  Lupul with 2 goals on 8 shots, Kessel with a fantastic game, huge effort by Kuli and Grabbo, and Reimer with .950 on 41 shots - what a game.  I hope they have more of that in them.
