R2, G1: Panthers @ Maple Leafs - May 2nd, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Game 1. Oh well. I have to say Brobovski is scaring me. He continues that and Florida will just play shinny. They?re playing with house money.

Yeah, pretty even game. Didn't think the leafs forechecked effectively, or moved the puck very well 5 on 5.

Just so they know, it's fine by me if they want to play the majority of a game with a 2 goal lead for a change.

Tough one but the Leafs didn't have their luck going and when you combine that with three Panthers goals coming directly off of really bad mistakes by the defense it's going to be tough to win. Those late goals are such momentum killers and the Leafs really need to figure something out there.

Still, I think there are a lot of positives to take from tonight.

Bob better then Sammy. We really needed a save on that breakaway. Overall pretty good game. Eliminate the obvious and they'll be good.

Weird game.  Florida deserved to win, though.

They did and didn't.  Toronto deserved to win just as much IMO.  They had the better scoring chances but they also created their own misfortune on two of the Florida goals

Feels like the kind of game that if you played 20 times you'd get 20 different results. Couple breaks here or there and the Leafs win but the Panthers just as easily could have put it away in the 1st.

More concerning for me is Willy. We need him to get going.

Too much birthday cake. Willy doesn't want to do what's necessary to be a performer in the playoffs. It might mean risking damaging his face. Trade him at the draft for something good and re-sign Bunting.

He's got 22 points in his last 22 playoff games.

Panthers are a bunch of scrubs. Reminds me of our boys losing to the Jackets. They best pull their heads out of their asses for Thursday

I mean they did just beat the best regular season team since the 70s era Canadiens. They aren't nothing.

Who, themselves won the Presidents Trophy last year with 122 points.

I kind of feel like I did after game 1 vs Tampa...I just felt the were flat and just getting out hustled all over the place.

I actually thought that was arguably their 2nd best game of these playoffs. Not scoring on one of those 1st period powerplays (where they looked very good) was a bit of a back breaker.

There's some things to adjust. They gotta game plan for Tkachuk better (like by not willingly playing the 4th line against him so much) and they need to take advantage of their amateurish "let's just flip the puck out at every opportunity" defensive scheme more. Also a personnel tweak or two at the bottom of the line-up.

But overall I'm still confident in the Leafs here. Crazy how much easier it feels to watch hockey after you've already won a round.

Tkachuk is a really annoyingly good player though, isn't he?

It's pretty insane how good he's become. Undeniable the 2nd best player in his draft year. Should probably get a Hart nomination this season but that seems unlikely to happen.

Why is McCabe getting caught deep? A career high of 4 goals, don't pinch ever.

I also really didn't like how he decided to complain to the ref during the delayed penalty call instead of getting back in the play.

We need him to be better we cannot do this without him. Brodie-McCabe are critical to this playoffs.
