Game Notes

NYR
?Cam Talbot (5-5-2, 2.28 GAA, .918 Sv%) likely starts for the Rangers

TOR
?Reimer is the confirmed starter for the Leafs
?Clarkson and Panik rotated on the 4th line & on PP2 at practice, but it'd be unlikely for Panik to sit after scoring so expect Clarkson to be a healthy scratch again
?Phaneuf is still day-to-day and is unlikely to return to the line-up yet

Reimer being auditioned for the #1 job, or being showcased before the deadline?

I'd say neither. Reimer did a great job on Saturday. Typically coaches don't go away from a guy when he posts a shutout, and Reimer was just seconds away from recording one. Horachek's obviously desperate for wins so he'll want to ride the goalie that gave him his first one in 12 games.

I'd put our third line up against anybody's.

:) For those who don't know, during team practices each line wears a different colour jersey to signify if they're the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th line. Last week or so Horachek started making the Bozak line wear the L3 jerseys, so I just figured I'd follow suit.

I thought fairly recently Horachek also said he wasn't going to go with set lines numbered 1-4 but whoever was playing best would play most?  I swear I read that.

Yes, he said that. I do like the idea of playing Kessel's line as a sheltered scoring line to carve up softer matchups where possible.

I don't think the other team sets their match ups based on what coloured jerseys their opponents wear in practice.

Seriously. If we're to the point where we want to "shelter" Kessel's line then things are so bad that him scoring goals is probably a moot point.

Also, Bernier may still not be quite 100%.

CLARKSON v. HORACHEK PRACTICE CONVO

Jonas Siegel ‏@jonasTSN1050  2 minutes ago
Horachek/Clarkson conversation goes nearly 10 minutes. Clarkson didn't look happy at any point.

Ian Shantz ‏@IanShantz  2 minutes ago
Nine-minute on-ice conversation between Horachek and Clarkson. Neither guy looked overly impressed.

Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris  2 minutes ago
The Horachek-Clarkson conversation was fairly animated ... and lasted several minutes. Clarkson looks flabbergasted.

Michael Traikos ‏@Michael_Traikos  2 minutes ago
Really looks like Clarkson is giving Horachek his two cents. Doesn't look too happy.

Jonas Siegel ‏@jonasTSN1050  6 minutes ago
The conversation between Horachek and Clarkson seems to be pretty animated. Lot of back and forth.

Mark Masters ‏@markhmasters  6 minutes ago
Clarkson, Horachek engaged in lengthy, animated chat at end of Leafs skate

Any fisticuffs?  Gunplay?

Because if there's one thing that was missing from the David Clarkson experience, it was him being a malcontent.

It's good that Clarkson is unhappy about being scratched again. He should continue to be unhappy about it, to the point where he does something productive to change the situation for him and the team.
