He tried to after he crossed the red line. I think he should've shot for a rebound.

I guess. Tough to backseat drive that one when it still resulted in a good chance.

Oh I agree. I just like to gripe about Hyman's shooting ability. Sometimes he proves me wrong, which is surprisingly pleasant.

Why can't the Goat pull up full time residence with this team. His skating and reach are fine. He makes good plays. He is my new Andropov!

I think in the future when Martin gets the puck all alone down low like that he should just drop to the ice and punch the puck. Not into the net or anything, just show the puck who's boss.

The end result will be roughly the same and he'll be justifying the decision the team made.

Teehee

Good shift by the 4th group nonetheless

Hey Maple Leafs front office,

When we criticize a dumb decision you make, your defense can't be "That's the decision we made" or "we wanted to go in another direction". We know, that's what we're criticizing.

I think Leafs 4th line is much more effective with Gauthier in the middle over Smith. They had their hottest run of the season when Gauthier was centering that line, then he tailed off a bit and they sent him down when Smith came back. I think he's better than Smith already defensively and stronger on the puck down low. His FO percentage is pretty well even, and he'll only get better with experience. I'd like him to be part of the rookie wave for the rest of the season. I think having been sent down once after slowing down probably taught him he's got to keep his foot on the gas if he wants to stay up.

Totally agree. Been a while since he was drafted and personally wasn't sure of the pick. Maybe because he's more of a defensive forward and really didn't show much offensively but I like the pick and his skating was the only concern which looks like he worked on. I hope he sticks around to.

One thing the Leafs have to clean up on in their own end is covering the points. Hasn't been too bad tonight, but in an awful lot of games they are getting burned by point men getting shots through that are getting deflected and going in. Anderson has been victim of a lot of deflections, sometimes even from his own players. If the points get covered well, there are obviously fewer shots getting through.
