Rangers @ Maple Leafs - Oct. 19th, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

I think the Leafs played pretty well. The score is not representative of how close the game was.
The Leafs out shot/out chanced a very good team. Stolarz wasn't bad. Shesterkin was stellar.

I like this Leafs team. They'll probably need another 15 games or so to shake out their roster, system & coach.
If the 30 somethings can sustain their health, they'll contend in the spring.

He has 7 shots through 5 games. It's really tough to justify Pacioretty sitting in the stands when Robertson is not bringing the one thing he needs to bring in order to stay in the line up. Sit him down for a game or two. It worked for McMann.

Let’s have a conversation about how Tavares is being targeted on entry (going on like 2.5 seasons now) and it’s sewering PP1.

PKs steer the entry off the drop pass to the left wing, and the carrier kicks out to Tavares. Up high in the zone, PKs are very free to just go for the kill on Tavares because even if he beats the first check, there’s little he can do flat footed well above the circles.

Every zone entry seems to be gain the zone, Tavares gets the puck on the high boards. He slows it down and gets pinned and it leads to a scrum and the puck going back the other way.

0 goals, 0 assists, 7 shots through 5 games for Robertson so far. It ain't preseason anymore.
Yeah. You can see he's putting in some effort, but many of the issues that have held him back in previous seasons are definitely still present - still too easily knocked off the puck, for instance. I wouldn't give up on him just yet, but he probably should be part of a rotation for a spot in the lineup rather than being in there every night.
