DET
?Ville Husso (13-8-5, 3.03 GAA, .901 Sv%) will start for the Red Wings
?Husso got off to a fantastic start with Detroit this season (.922 Sv% and 3 shutouts in his first 13 games) but his play has gone in the complete opposite direction since with a .881 Sv% in his last 14 games

TOR
?Ilya Samsonov (12-3-1, 2.29 GAA, .916 Sv%) will start for the Maple Leafs
?Matthews is considered day to day so his status for this game and any other potential line-up changes likely won't be known until the morning skate in Detroit

I doubt Matthews will play since he sat out last night, better to rest him up and see if he's ok for a more important game against Boston.

Hopefully Kampf is ok...that head shot he took you never know, symptoms can appear hours later so let's hope he doesn't have an concussion issue.

Or a neck issue.

Kind of hope Matthews takes this one off too.  If he was too banged up to play last night, Detroit isn't exactly a team I would be rushing to get him back in the lineup for.  Even the Boston game.  While it's a measuring stick game, if he isn't healthy their next game is on Tuesday.  That would give Matthews Sunday Jan 8 - Tuesday Jan 17.  He's not in the goal scoring race at this point so there isn't an added pressure on him setting franchise records or anything.  Focus on getting healthy.

Against my own advice to not care about bottom line and third pair spare parts: why not keep Timmins in?

They're gonna be hesitant to ever waive Benn and he can't sit forever. So as long as it's just a B2B thing I think it's fine.

For sure we gotta keep Benn warm, but there are other, relatively elderly candidates to sit that we want to be very healthy for the playoffs.

Why the heck are we dressing Simmonds again.  I don't really understand what he has done to justify getting into the lineup at this point.

I get putting Benn in for a game.  You don't want to sit him 50 straight heading into the playoffs but I don't understand Simmonds.
