Reimer Injury

According to John Shannon

@JSportsnet:TML have place James Reimer on the IR with "concussion like symptoms".

lol, Burke was on the fan 590 just a little while ago saying Reims is day to day, the testing for whiplash is similiar to a concussion testing, which is why everyone is throwing the concussion word out there.

Being placed on the IR means he won't be in the line up on Saturday, either, as that will be the 7th day of the 7 day minimum for the placement - which was placed retroactive to after his last appearance. The earliest we might see him in net is Sunday against the Sens.

mirtle: Wilson on Reimer's health status: "Last time I checked, I don?t have a medical degree and I don?t think The Monster does either."
Saw that interview too, made me feel a bit suspicious about the situation. Almost felt as if Wilson was a little annoyed.

Even though Reimer felt fine before yesterdays skate he developed a headache during the skate which got progressively worse.

Reimer hopes to workout tomorrow and see where he's at after that. Docs remain unsure his injury or symptoms are related to Gionta hit.

TSN just said Reimer is on the IR and won't play tonight or Saturday, the earliest he'd be back was Sunday and even that was doubtful.

:(
Not good, if Reimer is out for long it will definately affect our chances of making the playoffs.

No doubt. I think the Leads are a boarderline playoff team with Reimer.

So a blind side headshot is suspend-able when a player hits a non-goalie anywhere on the ice but it's not suspend-able when they a player hits a goalie that is out of their crease?

If long term, this injury will completely devastating to the team.

We've heard this before!  ;D

Indeed. Here's Seigels latest report:
http://www.tsn.ca/toronto/blogs/jonas_siegel/?id=379115
- James Reimer did not practice on Friday, but did manage to work out off the ice. Ron Wilson said surprisingly that he expected Reimer to be available on Sunday. That seems hard to believe though. Reimer was off the ice on Thursday and again on Friday, meaning he'd have just one day of practice (game-day skate) to prepare for Ottawa on Sunday. Reimer was placed on the IR retroactive to Saturday, meaning he is eligible to return against the Senators however unlikely that may be. Head coach Ron Wilson declined to offer any update on the nature of his injury.

We may yet see Ben Scrivens play his first game soon ....  :(

That's not necessarily a bad thing.  If there's any team that Scrivens could get his first start on against, it's the cream-puff Senators.  (yes I know they're playing well now, it's a mirage)

You have to ride Gus every game till Reimer comes back unless he gets shelled by the Penguins on saturday. He's a back up, its not like he has to play 60 games more after this weekend..

Playing Thurs-Sat-Sun is a bit much to ask of any goalie.  I can't see them giving him back to back starts Saturday and Sunday.

During the post game Wilson said the decision to keep Reimer on the shelf was based around maximizing the use one of their emergency call ups, fwiw.

I think we'll see Scrivens in net on Sunday.
