Yup, that Borchevsky goal was great.
This was another series winner I remember quite well

I remember loving Berezin when I was very little, but his time with the Leafs came just before I really started paying attention to the team. Looking up his stats again now and he had a pretty strange career. Had a career year in his 3rd season in the NHL at the age of 26 with 37 goals and 59 points (guessing Sundin had a lot to do with that).

I could be way off but I'm not sure that tracks. Sundin mainly played with Thomas that year and, if memory serves, either Johnson or Modin. Berezin was on Korolev's line for most of his ES time.

Berezin wasn't really the sort of guy who fed off his centre anyway. He was more the "I'm going to try and deke around all 6 guys" sort of scorer.

Two players I'd love to have on the team:
Sergei Berezin

Dmitri Yushkevich

Yushkevich and Danny Markov would be two guys that would so welcome on this D core. Hard-nosed defensive defensemen.

Yep. He was so fun to watch, but he was mostly a lone wolf in the scoring department.

Yeah I remember his play style like that but still just assumed he played with Sundin. If he finished 5th in the league in EVG playing primarily with Korolev that year that's insane.

It's fun watching Yuskkevich highlights. He was such a great, well-rounded player, but half of the highlights are clearly penalties. He's pinning guys to the boards for five seconds 20 feet away from the puck.

It's true of just about anyone from that era though. It was how they played.
It's funny, when they first cracked down on the hooking and holding I really thought they went to far. Now when I watch old games, I'm so thankful they did.

Yes, that would be in there too. It's funny how that series is my most memorable Leafs series ever. I can remember where I was when I watched those games.

Same. It was the first taste of success in a long long time up to that point.
