Round 2: (A1) Boston vs. (A3) Montreal

I knew they could do it.  So nice to be past the 2nd round for once.  It almost seemed like a given that was going to be Montreal's ceiling.

They made the 3rd round in 2010.

Lucic threatens Weise and Emelin while shaking hands. Something to the effect of "I'm going to f-ing kill you". Wouldn't even call it a handshake, Lucic just yanked both their hands up and down really hard.

Do you have a clip of this?

Thank you sir.

These guys just appear to be poor losers and have a huge lack of self-awareness. Just accept the loss and move one and shut your damn mouth.

At the beginning of the 2nd period, Marchand snows Price and gets a penalty. Julien was incredulous on the bench asking what the penalty was for. Are they honestly this ignorant?

The best thing to come out of this series though is that the Habs provided the blueprint to beat the Bruins. Number 1 is speed and number 2 is ignoring all their antics. If you don't get involved in their nonsense it makes them much, much easier to beat.

Right, the Halak year, wow can't believe I forgot that.

Can we now as a group put to rest this garbage that I've been hearing for years that the Bruins 4th line is the best in the game.

Can we all at least agree that they are just as useless as any other teams 4th line?

Thanks.

Montreal will have no trouble getting past the Rangers now. I personally love Subban and can't wait to see him and Toews in the finals.

I wouldn't look past Lundqvist that easily.  Will be arguably the best goalie they've faced yet.  Rangers are sneaky.  I think Montreal has a good chance, but don't think it will be a cake-walk by any stretch.  Rangers are tough defensively but not as big and slow as the Bruins.

Don't care who won but that was some of the worst officiating I have ever seen. I hate both teams equally but the refs should not decide a game 7 and they did last night with that hurrendous call on Boychuk. Not to mention giving the dirtbag Marchand 2 minutes for receiving a vicious and in my opinion suspendible cross check to the neck. Not sure I will continue to watch these playoffs with such biased reffing

Gotta say I'm impressed that Montreal won.  Good for them.  I mean, I still hate them, but good for them. ;)

If Nash wakes up, it should be a good series, otherwise, it could be a relatively easy Habs win.

Why does everyone think it will be relatively easy?  Their possession stats in the playoffs are very similar (very slight edge to NY), the Rangers' possession stats were much better all season, 1 win separated them in regular season, Rangers scored more and allowed less in regular season, Rangers have best GA/G in the playoffs, while Habs have best GF/G (although Tampa's "goaltending" may skew that somewhat).  Bruins still carried the majority of the play versus Montreal, so I don't see why this would be any easier of a series for them.

I think the Rangers are being very underappreciated here.  I'm not saying they will win, but that it's one that could easily go either way and probably won't be an easy series from either perspective.

I had them going all the way in the East, and I still don't think they've quite played their best yet in the playoffs.

Watching that last one go in off Chara was delicious schadenfreude.  Anyone have a gif or clip of him pretending to fall down at that faceoff?  That was precious, too.

Oo, I found it.  How little self-respect does Chara have, falling on his face to sell a trip like that?  The fact that he has an entire foot of height and about 90 pounds on Gallagher makes it especially hilarious.

Did you see the stuff they were letting go? Chara was basically a WWE wrestler on skates. Marchand dished out more cheapshots than a PC election ad. And I was hoping Boston would win the game, by no means am I a Hab supporter or apologist. The fact is Boston got away with a lot of garbage and Montreal mostly stayed away from that side of the things all game. I agree that the officiating in general is absolutely awful, but there was no bias nor was it the problem this game imo.
