Round 2: (M1) Pittsburgh vs. (M2) New York

NYRangers 5  Pittsburgh 1.  Pittsburgh leads series 3 games to 1.

Martin St.Louis flew back from a family bereavement hours before game time and his inspired play helped the Rangers defeat Pittsburgh as well as end their 0 for 36 powerplay drought.

St.Louis mourned the passing of his beloved mother and had this to say when asked about his play:

"I'm glad we're able to get this win and stay alive," St. Louis said. "She was a great lady, the best human being I've ever known in my life. I owed it to her to do it. I know she would have wanted me to play."

"She was with me the whole way but this is probably the most comfortable place you can be as a hockey player," he said.

Classy Crosby vol. 2

Edit: Just to clarify I posted the vid just to show (yet another) example why I don't like Crosby as a player. The consolation to St. Louis over the loss of his mother was real class - wish he would be like that on the ice too and not resort to cheap shots and embellishment when he gets pissed off of his/his team's poor performance.

I'm no fan of Crosby but if guys wanna chase after him all game holding his stick and playing dirty against him, then they should expect it in return. Moore will never hold his stick again.

Yeah, I mean he certainly doesn't hold back on making sure Moore feels that a bit, but Moore is holding his stick between his legs for the final 10-15 seconds of the game so that Crosby can't do anything.  Those plays always strike me as 'reap what you sow'

With this Moore thing and how badly Dubinsky was abusing him in the 1st round, I'm a little surprised we haven't heard the old "Gretzky had McSorley" narrative. If Pittsburgh feels they need an enforcer in the summer we've got a couple they can have.

David Clarkson would be a great fit on Crosby's wing . . .

At the very least no one would dare squirt him with a water bottle with Clarkson around.

And Pittsburgh is out!

When Bylsma put Malkin and Crosby together in these playoffs you really saw just how awful the rest of their forward group was. No depth on that team whatsoever.

Nash gets another round to be pretty much invisible in. Hard to believe how inconsequential he has been in the playoffs.

James Reimer, The City of Pittsburgh Welcomes You.

What an unbelievably mediocre team to make it to the Eastern Finals.  I know on name the Rangers have some really nice pieces but man, I'm pretty happy if I'm Boston/Montreal right now.
