Round 2: New York Rangers vs. Washington Capitals

I'm pretty surprised that Chris Kreider isn't a more disliked player in the league. He seems to constantly be getting involved with the other teams goalie. Does a lot of other stuff that players don't like like shooting pucks into nets on offsides and stuff. I realize that no Cap is going to do anything about that in a game like this but they must be taking note.

Yeah, I noticed that too.  I wonder if that is part of why he isn't mentioned as much as one of the elite players in the league.  160 points over the last two seasons in 146 GP.

This overtime has been pretty fun hockey.

Am I missing something? Kreider has 83 points the last two seasons.

He counted PIM as points.  I did a triple-take when I read that, too.

Yep, my bad.  That's what I get for multitasking and not paying attention to what I was doing.  The number did seem awfully high to me.

On the other hand, I'm Dr. LK and I support Chris Kreider as the best solution to your NHL team.  One might call him a miracle player.

Man that's crushing for the Caps. They were dominating in OT. But when you have a 3-1 series lead you gotta close it out before game 7.

In hindsight, maybe Ovechkin shouldn't have guaranteed a win?  Or at least maybe found a way to score a little more in the series.

Or anyone really. Alfredsson guaranteed wins, failed to deliver, and looked like a jackass. Messier guaranteed a win, delivered, and I still kind of think he's a jackass.

I think people get way too worked up over guarantees. All Ovi said was that he thought his team was going to win. Weird to blow that up. But yeah, going pointless in games 3-6 sure doesn't look good on him.

Just knew that the Capitals dominating in OT would lead to them eventually losing.

They were 100 seconds away from winning the series too. Caps have yet to get out of the 2nd round with Ovechkin. I was kind of hoping this was going to be his year to raise the Cup.

i still find it hard to believe the east has anything to stand up against whomever comes out of the ducks and blackhawks series....guess we'll see though

If there is a team that could have challenged either Anaheim or Chicago (but more Anaheim) in the physicality department, it would have been the Capitals.  For the simple reason that the Caps were one of the league's bigger teams and on that level alone would have matched them up well against either of the above-mentioned two.

Tampa Bay?  They probably could beat the Rangers and if they do, their best asset would be their speed to get around a bigger, more physically demanding team.

I would have liked to see the Caps move on, but simply because I really like Ted Leonsis.
