Sabres @ Leafs - Mar. 11th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

I really genuinely wonder how anyone could watch this team and not think there was just something fundamentally wrong with how the players are approaching the game. We can say "they suck" all we want but I think we can all recognize the difference between not being good and not giving a damn. These guys don't give a damn and as much as people might not want to accept it that's going to have serious ramifications for the club going forward regardless of whether or not those guys are kept or if they're dealt.

I'm guessing a lot of the players on this team dread stepping on the ice, and can't wait for the season to end so they can slink away.  That's what their play tells me at least.

How so?

Details are obviously omitted but again, this is why I have some issues with publically shaming Kadri with his suspension.  Shanahan, Nonis and Horachek went half-way in terms of airing Kadri out but not giving details to explain what he is doing wrong.  It leads to speculation.

On the other hand it is clear that Kadri's approach to the game is flawed.  Less so on the ice it would appear and far more so in terms of practice and training.  But how can you really punish a guy when you let everyone else get away with this garbage night after night.  It just seems like accountability is very selective with this organization.

Gardiner also got owned on that classic.

That's just Gardiner being Gardiner. I expect better from Phaneuf.

Gardiner hasn't gotten any better defensively, and I think we're at the point where we can't expect anything more.

Because if you keep them this toxic atmosphere will remain and if you try to deal them this is something that teams are going to see and not like and will probably affect the offers the Leafs get for the players they want to trade.

I'm actually sort of inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. I have a hunch that if they went into meticulous public detail as to what exactly the problem with Kadri was they'd be facing a lot of criticism for airing stuff they shouldn't. This is a fairly drastic step and, as a result, I tend to think it's warranted.

Buffalo sucks too much to lose.  Trading away both of their goaltenders for non-NHL calibre goaltenders was a stroke of genius.
