Next step may need to be a coaching change.  Things are stale right now.  There's no way this team can continually, for years now, play flat without much desire all the while playing down to the level of their opponents.

I'm on board. Something to wake these guys up, new voice etc.

It's a bit too early but like I said if this whole homestand goes south....

It's already like 2 years too late.

Well, yes.  I just think he's mediocre.  I get the stated reasoning why Treliving kept him, but why not a clean break?

Anyway, Boucher will be ready to take the reins if called upon.

There were maybe 3 better options than shooting a softie into the crowd

I just wanted to add, I like Knies, he looks like a good one, but I think we may have gotten our hopes a little too high for him.

One thing I think he needs to lay off of is the attempted pass to himself.  Skate with it.

This is a personal issue. The bottom 6 is flat out terrible and every signing hasnt panned out.

59 F

18 C+

I know there wasn?t always a lot of love for Dubas with the style of play he wanted from the team , but at least most of his signings were hits and very few outright fails.

He's playing with Domi and Kampf. He played some with JT and Willy in Boston and they were dominant. He's a top 6 guy all day everyday. And please send Holmberg back to the Marliesif you're not going to play him.

It's also a coaching issue. Keefe seems out of ideas and can't get this team ready to play. Can't believe how flat they were given all the talk coming out of the Boston game. Something really stinks.

You have a point, but if you throw in the deadline signings, which cost us several 1st rounders to no avail ? a major reason we are stuck with the deadwood we have at the bottom of the lineup ? then his record isn't so rosy either.

Still early but the signings aren't helping Keefe here at all. Options are limited with how the new guys are playing.

Fair enough, but he needed to see some advancement in the playoffs, so he had to take more of a gamble than he?d have liked to I?m sure. On top of that, every single one of those deadline signings looked good in Blue and white.

Brutal game overall. Who else showed up besides Marner and Matthews? How are we supposed to think of this team beyond the core 4 when they're almost doing everything single handedly? This team looks like a mess. God help us if Rielly or Matthews go down.

Klingberg is the new Jake Gardiner... Only worse. He's the opposite of what the defense needs.

I said it at the time -- he is Barrie 2.0.  High expectations offensively, horrible defensively.  Only problem is, again, just like Barrie, he is awful on the PP too.

Keefe hasn't learned from past mistakes as he keeps running Klingberg on the 1st PP unit.  Time to reinstill Rielly there.  He has his flaws as a PPQB, but he's no worse than Klingberg.

Totally disagree. Why sign Gregor, Reeves when you have guys like Steeves, Holmberg, Abruzzese on the Marlies? I'm sure they could be a pretty decent 4th line. Clifford is better then Reeves. Tre had about 16M in space to sign guys...there's no excuse. Let's hope it's like the last few years and it's just a slow start and they get it together in Nov.

They've started off pretty slow the last few years. Let's see how it goes in Nov when they've got it together in the past.

There are three ways to look at this.  This is the first time that the Leafs have lost when Matthews and Marner score in a game at the same time since 2018.  So that means:

A:  They were due.
B:  This is the worst Leafs team since 2018.
C:  All of the above.

I have always liked Clifford.  Got shut down as a Leaf player after he got the game misconduct penalty against TBay.  He can hit, fight and isn't a total liability with his skating.  I have been enjoying the goals he has participated with this year (preseason Leafs and now the Marlies)

That said...I liked the speed and tenacity of Lafferty as well as the speed and tenacity of Gregor.  For a 4th line I wish they could have had a chance.

I was worried of the signings of 59, 11, 3 and 75 but thought I must have missed something with those players.

It could be worse...we could be the Oilers...

One puzzling thing for me. We've played the last while literally with 5 D every game because of injury so why the hell call up a guy and play him 5 mins? Did he get hurt or what did I miss? Lagesson played around 12:30.
