Sabres vs. Maple Leafs - Dec. 20th, 7:30pm - SN, TSN 1050

Berube said he was pretty happy with these pairings (unlike the Dallas game).
Seem to stick with them most of the game according to the shift chart.
Rielly(18:25mins, 7mins penalties from fight)-Timmins(20:52mins)
OEL(19:05mins)-Tanev (21:02mins)
Benoit(16:24mins)-McCabe(19:35mins)

My eye-test suggested that this was a really poor defensive game from the Leafs. It seemed to me that Buffalo had a lot of passes to wide-open guys for quick shots at the net. Murray saved a lot of them. I thought his play was mostly better than the numbers. Am I reading that wrong?

They did let the Sabres take a lot of quick attempts, but wouldn’t characterize it as poor defensively per se. The quality of chances that the Sabres had were relatively low save for one or two scrambles in the first two periods. Murray had pretty clean sight lines most of the night and the Leafs cleaned up his rebounds. Some of the run of play was due to the Leafs simply nursing the lead and generally managing their minutes for the B2B.
