Saturday night

Seems so weird having no Leafs hockey on a Saturday night.  This is one messed up season.

yep, my wife just assumes there's no plans tonight as I watch hockey. Told her there's no game this weekend and she's very happy.

Rented a movie and making popcorn.

A few seasons back, the team asked to have a few Saturday nights off each season.

Really?

I always assumed it was because of whining from the rest of Canada.

It was news a few years back. They didn't like what having to be on HNIC every week did to the rest of their schedule. As for the rest of Canada, the Leafs still bring in the highest ratings for the CBC by far - they wouldn't care what the rest of the country said when there are a fair amount more people watching the Leafs than there are watching any other Canadian team.

I know I'm not watching HNIC tonight.

Pretty sure it was Quinn who complained. It screwed up their travel by forcing a Saturday night game.

People still rent movies?

Quite frequently. Isn't that pretty normal?

Downloading a movie off iTunes to watch on your Apple TV, or from another provider on your Roku, HTPC etc, is still renting a movie?  Doesn't mean he drove to Blockbuster in the cold, where he would have ended up renting something he didn't want because what he did want wasn't there.  Then a week later you go back and pay late fees because you forgot to return it or even worse never got around to even watching it. Man how I don't miss those days.

Well, I actually did drive to the store and rented a Blu-Ray from a movie rental store. I just thought it was normal, and it's cheaper than renting a movie from Shaw on Demand, or itunes.

Oh ok :), I use to spend more money on late fees for movies I would often return finally not having watched.  Felt like renting a movie in the day, but never felt like watching it.  Now when I actually am ready to watch I stream it. Maybe I am the oddball :).

Well, in fairness my movie store is about six blocks away, so it's not a problem to get it back in time. I haven't paid a late fee in about 10 years. I suppose my wife and I don't rent movies on impulse. If we want to watch a movie, we got get it then watch it immediately. We also don't have much of a social life, so when we get home there's generally no distractions.  :D or maybe that should be  :'(

$4 for a bluray at the local video store. Can't beat that.
