Sens/Bruins

I'd love to say that Boston has kind of sucked for half the year but I have absolutely no faith in the Leafs beating them with Kessel's putrid record against them.

This is my main concern as well.  If Kessel can't get over his mental challenges with the Bruins the Leafs can only go so far.

Empty net goal means the Leafs get the Bruins and the Habs get the sens. That one could probably go either way, too.

Brutal well at least the Bruins look and have played even worse than the Leafs of late.

They have played badly, but not worse than the Leafs methinks. Bruins heavily outshot the sens tonight.

It's very hard being a Leaf fan and hoping for anything that even hints of anything fortunate

We made our own bed this time. If the Leafs had won in Tampa and won against the Habs yesterday, this would be a different story.

To be quite honest I think of the 3 Canadian teams the Sens have probably looked and you can even argue have the best team. They have had some key injuries all season and kept putting up points and are right there. Imagine if Spezza, Karlsson and Anderson were healthy all year. Here's hoping they beat the Habs. I was hoping we would avoid Boston.Even though the games this year have been better still think they out class us. Prove me wrong boys.

Though, a few positives from a Leafs perspective:

1) Boston is playing bad of late
2) Chara is getting old and isn't the satan he used to be
3) Leafs have some offensive players who can put the puck in the net
4) Leafs are tough

A loss to the Bruins in round 1 would be expected so really we have nothing to lose and that may bode well.  If we do take down the Bruins it may get this team out of it's funk and spur them on to a 2nd round victory as well.  It is what it is so I am done crying about it.  Lets get ready for some playoff hockey.

Uch. That means one of the Habs or sens will make it the 2nd round. Blurgh.

They have lost 7 of their last 9.

They have a worse record than the Leafs in the last 9, yes, but that isn't the only indicator of level of play. I would argue that the Bruins played better than their record, and the Leafs not as well as their record.

In four of their 7 losses, Boston outshot their opponents by more than 10 shots with more than 36 shots. In their last 9, they have been held to less than 30 shots once (in a win). That tells me they have been engaged and getting chances. They have never been outshot by more than 7 shots in any of those games. They have given up 30 or fewer shots 5 times.

The Leafs had 30 shots once in their last 9. They were outshot by at least 17 shots in three of their 4 wins. They have given up 30 or fewer shots 3 times.

The shots on goal thing may not be the best indicator of play, but having watched / listened to a good number of Leaf games, I'd say it has been a good indicator of how THEY have played.
