The Leafs need to lose. I'm a Sens fan for this game. Otherwise, they may well get on a meaningless winning streak for their remaining games and all of a sudden they are picking 6th instead of 4th.

Ottawa is going nowhere anyway, so they might as well help the cause with a win.

And if the Leafs finish with the 4th worst record in the league and Carolina wins the Lottery? Then what?

Seriously, chill out.

I'm free to enjoy the remaining games in whichever way I choose.

You don't sound like you're enjoying them though. Maybe if you chilled out...?

You're right. I just want the season over with.

But there is some intrigue in how the last games are going to go that's keeping me interested in watching. I would have tuned out long ago if the games had no implications whatsoever.

You can tell it's not the regular crowd tonight. There were people in their seats for the start of the period!

Please, just fold up the blue tent and go home.  One more loss would just about cement a 27th place finish.

You're not really sure how it works being a Leafs fan are you.... ;)

I'm afraid I'm all too familiar, yet I'm still here.  Apparently I did something terrible in a past life and feel the need to punish myself, over and over again.

Sadly, I know exactly what you are saying and feeling.... :-\

I'll take the win but it's still disappointing they couldn't do it in regulation and make it that much harder for Ottawa.

Dude, you REALLY need to get some perspective. It's going to be like this for a long time. This one draft is not going to make or break the rebuild.

The perspective is that whatever is possible for the Leafs to do to screw up some "good fortune", they'll do it. They always do. The better the pick the better the options and opportunities. "One" draft or not it all helps..

Now 2 points behind Carolina and we have the tiebreaker..

Except at this point you're not even playing the odds. The player the Leafs want at #4 might still be there at #5 or even #6. The way the Lottery works, there's even a chance finishing 5th works out better than finishing 4th.

There's really no concrete difference between the two places the Leafs could conceivably finished so to get steamed up about the fact that the players on the team are actually working hard and winning games is just pointless.

Also, there's still a very good chance the Leafs finish 4th. Carolina has 4 games left to Toronto's 2. We likely still have to win both of those remaining games to make 5th a realistic finish. Even then Carolina would just need 3 out of a possible 8 points to keep things as they are. And they have Buffalo and Philly on their schedule.
