sens @ Leafs - Feb 1st, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

All my years playing and being around hockey, never heard of lace bite, what a weird injury.

Colton Orr hasn't been a minus player in his last 10 games.  He's now been averaging .21 goals against per game.  Jerry D'Amigo and Jerred Smithson have less ice-time and been on for more goals against, less goals for.  Orr's salary is only $55,000 more then D'Amigo's. A point-a-game Marlie doesn't necessarily do better then Orr at the NHL level.  Remember what happened when the Leaf's toughest guy was Mark Osborne and other teams were running around with guys like Link Gaetz?  You sometimes need someone to take on useless pukes like Chris Neil.  Detroit has Brendan Smith. :p

Orr can't even skate.  At this point, there is nothing positive about Orr.

And of course the Habs/Tampa game goes to OT.

For some reason Orr has regressed even MORE than normal this year. Couldn't skate then worked on it while at the Marlies. Then this year I swear he spends more time doing ice angels than actually on his feet. Doesn't fight now either. The pics of RC must be something.

And ya, I knew that TB-Habs game would go to OT too....

Not sure what is up with Holland if he is on crutches.

He is:

Mark Masters ‏@markhmasters 3h
Holland's foot is so swollen that he can't put weight on it; he's actually on crutches; Carlyle calls lace-bite injury "crazy"

I've been reading and hearing that the crutches are to make sure it heals even faster than normal. Apparently if you but the foot into a boot that stops you from being able to bend it, you heal much faster as the tendons have ample time to heal properly.

One of the temptations when you get new skates is to over tighten the laces because you want to get them to mold to your feet. Sometimes that doesn't work out so well.

Super impressed the guy who plays 3:00/night hasn't managed to be a minus in 10 games.

Good thing he will have mclaren to keep him company for 57 min tonite.

Side note: last game paul Maclean played everybody at least 10 min on the sens. My guess is they plan on rolling 4 lines and try to grind down the leafs top 2 lines. Probably every team's plan vs the buds.

Definitely. Another great way to get lace bite is to get skates that aren't deep enough... which can be tricky when players wear orthotics or some form of custom inserts that take up room.

If Kassian is a scratch, than for gawd's sake why are we dressing Orr.

Nice to see Bodie sticking on the 3rd line. Love the effort that guy is putting in. I'd love to see him and Clarkson between Mclement as a Defensively Responsible Mayhem Line (DRML- trademarked)

It's his consistency that impresses me.

If Detroit can answer that bell with Brendan Smith, then if I'm Randy Carlyle, I sit Orr and tell Carl Gunnarsson he's the man.  Gunnarsson has to learn he can't depend on others to do the fighting for him.  He's the same size as B.Smith.  Enough excuses, we can't afford to dress Orr for 3 minutes a night, when we can dress D'Amigo.  Gunnarsson better drop the gloves and give that Neal a whooping of biblical proportions.  Show the league we don't need a 'goon' to handle the rough stuff.

To be fair there are a lot of 4th lines that suck too.    Orr's real skill is taking 47.2% of his shifts starting in the offensive zone (4th on the team for forwards) and finishing 2nd last with 45.3%  McClement is last taking 30.4% of his shifts starting in the offensive zone and finishing with 42.7% of them in the offensive zone.

It's a special skill to be that awesome.

I like that the sens don't even get the respect of a capital letter in the GDT title
