Another flat start. Ottawa has been playing well lately. Don't pick it up it's going to be another defeat.

You're my sunshine.

Were you impressed with their first period? It was no better than the last 3. Reilly's injury makes a difference but not to the extent we r seeing the last 3 games. They were lucky to beat Buffalo. The Ranger game well let's not go there and only 1 period tonight but besides Nylander and Andersen the rest of the team was absent.I thought they would have come out better than this after Thursdays game but it is what it is.

I think you're over reacting again, as you are prone to do.

I think the Bozak line and the Gauthier line could have been better and the defense is understandably a work in progress.

I think the refs screwed them a little in the first too.

Honestly, it seems like you come here and take out whatever frustrations you have on the team, which is your prerogative, but expect at least a little razzing about it.

The razzing doesn't bother me. The lack lustre play does. I understand there are going to be days when the other team flat out deserves to beat you but when the effort isn't there that's unacceptable. Coach definitely needs to be a motivator but ultimately it falls on the players.

They had to kill six minutes of penalties and were fouled constantly with almost nothing called and even at that the Matthews and Kadri lines had good periods, I think you've got unreasonably high expectations.

I don't think asking millionaire players to put out a better effort are unreasonably high expectations.

Bozak is not that bad a player y'all.

I think he gets a bad rap for the most part. He was highly touted coming out of college but he never was going to be a point a player game. Good in the faceoffs, contributes offensively thats what you get. If he had a bit more size and toughness be even better I think but I've been pleased with him since we got him and at a decent price.

One of the few Burke quotes that wasn't an overstatement was when he called him a found 1st-rounder (or something to that effect).  How many college free agents have been better?

Hunwick and Polak did a good job keeping the offensive zone a couple of times with good auto-pinches. By the time Ottawa got it out and into our zone, they needed a change and no shots were attempted.

Other GMs should take note at how effective those two are at playing big, tough, defensive minutes.

Bozie!

It always amazes me how often you see a player take a pass like that and score when surrounded by like 3 or 4 players on the other team who can't do a thing.

It's cos *insert defending team here* aren't tough enough and don't clear the net

I don't think calling you stupid is unreasonable if you think the best professionals in the world aren't at the very least trying hard.

Thank you, Shillie McShillshill.

DeKeyser was a good find for Detroit. Schultz is playing well for Pittsburgh since coming over from Edmonton but give him a few more years. Other than that not many others I can think of that are worth any mention.

I watched the second period that they largely dominated, no stick taps from captain positive?

A really good period by the boyz....
I really wished they scored on the 4min PP

Looking forward to a great 3rd!

Hunwick with great body position down low to neutralize a cycle! He would be great depth for a contender as a stabilizing presence on the back end.

So far one of the best games I have seen him play this season

Hey when they are playing well whether one or two of them or the whole team I address that. I will be the first to admit it's the same continuous mistakes, blunders or poor play that I continually harp on. That's because I don't understand why those things continue to happen. Ya that was a better period. Maybe I expect more of that than others do. You can't tell me the effort was there in the first regardless of the 3 penalties. Maybe if they would have come out with a better start to the game all 3 of those penalties don't happen. And if you think the effort is there by these pros every night you're wrong. Maybe ask Babcock what he thought of the game Thursday. The effort wasn't there don't kid yourself.

Marincin has been pretty decent so far tonight, especially considering he's been out since the start of December.

Better than decent IMO, he's really helped stabilize things so far.
