Sharks @ Leafs - Jan. 4th, 7:00pm - SNO, Fan 590

If Lou gets any backlash about the haircare ?rules?, he?s got some ammo tonight.

Also whatever is happening with Laine.

Well Kypreos was right there, he should have just cleared it out.  No matter, he's entitled to a mistake now and then (even if they come close together).

Andersen my God but I thought the Kadri goal shouldn't have counted. I don't understand why the league doesn't make those calls simple. Goes off your skate with any intention or trying to direct it then it's no goal. Kicking motion what a joke. Kadri tried directing it towards the net with his skate. This isn't soccer.

He deflected in with his skate!  Totally legal.

Now if the puck had been in his feet, and he kicked it in, no goal.

You are allowed to direct the puck into the net with your skate, just can't outright kick it!

I understand the rule what I'm saying is to eliminate the questionable calls make it simple you direct it in with any intent or kick it in don't allow it.

Hyman's penalty may be an example of his lack of offensive talent.  He just doesn't have the hands or vision especially compared with Austin and Willie  IMHO.  But he is a favourite of Babcock's and will never be sent to the 4th line it seems.

Okay name one other person that?s not Marner on this team that has Matthews? or Nylander?s hands and vision.

Wonderful play by Polak there, doesn't take away the shot or the pass, good thing Andersen was there to bail him out.

Matthews and Nylander really need someone with better hands on that line. Looks like neither one considers Hyman a viable option.

That last sequence showing pretty clearly that Gardiner really appreciates Carrick?s communication on switch offs and corner chases. He was very decisive and even when the outs failed, they were both ready to regroup.

As hilarious as that was, there is no point in passing to the stationary screen player.

Right, but if someone like JVR was parked in front, you consider throwing the puck on goal because he has the ability to do something with a rebound. Plenty of other times I've seen Nylander or Matthews hold onto the puck when they could have passed to Hyman.

Well Polak has had a couple of rushes and even goals this year that were for lack of a better word a vision .🙂

Honestly, though I laughed at this very thing last year, I really don?t mind all the passes going towards either a Matthews or Nylander shot.

Further to that, JvR is really the only player on the team that I would bother directing a pass to if he were the crease top screen.

Leafs have played well tonight.  Let's see if they can get the point(s) they deserve.

Gardiner hasn't been his best this season as a whole but the past few weeks he's really stepped up his game.

Yes, he's been good tonight.

That's one point.  Now let's end this streak and get another.
