Stars @ Leafs - Mar. 14th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Great comeback win, they deserve a lot of credit for stepping up when myself and I'm sure others thought their goose was cooked tonight. The memory of this and that ability to dig in and find another gear will help them in the playoffs.

Cue the what-will-it cost-to-sign-JvRticles.

Complain about his defense as we will, he's one of the best ***NET FRONT PRESENCES*** in this here league.

McBackup continues to befuddled me, in a good way of course. I never even really think that he looks that good in net but he just keeps making those saves and that's all that matters.

I honestly didn't think he'd make 1 save in the shootout.

"Seguin oh yeah he'll score...."
"Oh for sure Radulov..."

Well at least Carrick can say his final game as a Leaf was a win.

We've got one more call-up, right?  I hear Holl has scored in every NHL game he's ever played in.

Missed this one but sounds like a doozy. Big question, how did Johnsson look?
Good speed, really aggressive and adds another dimension to the 4th. Overall, he looked pretty good in limited ice.

Good game, even better that the Leafs get the shootout win.

The Stars' defencemen like to enmesh themselves in the offensive zone and make good usage of it.  The Leafs' d, save for Carrick's faux pas and some misreads by Reilly (& Hainsey), were their usual selves.

What is disconcerting is Andersen's injury due to the contact made with Radulov's knee (?) and getting pinned down by him.

Why, why do team defencemen shove opposing players onto their goalkeeper?  That risks injury and more often than not, is a detriment to the team.  And even if they don't get shoved in, they shove themselves onto the opposing goaltender.

I'm an advocate of bringing back some form of goaltender crease protection, or at least something similar thereof.

IIHF rules state the play shall be blown dead as soon as an opposing player steps foot in the crease.

I would take it a step further and issue a 2 minute minor for it.  We have a two minute minor for shooting the puck over the glass, so why not two minutes for a crease violation.

Your goaltender is arguably the most important player on your team.  You generally only have one other one that's not very good, he's on the ice for 60 minutes a game, and usually is one of the highest paid guys on your team.

I totally forgot about Holl, I was thinking about Rosen and Borgman down there, but yeah, Holl didn't look overwhelmed when he played those 2 games.  Of course it's a really really small sample, but would he be much worse than a non-confident Carrick right now?

A two-minute minor would be a terrible idea, in my opinion. It would kill the flow of the game and is unwarranted.

Having your goalie get concussed and shipped off to the quiet room doesn't kill the flow of the game?

It does, but have you considered that a player's skate might enter the crease slightly more often than goalies being concussed and leaving the game?

Hitch loves Babcock more than some Leaf fans do.
