Stone traded to Vegas, signs 8x9.5mil extension

I look forward to seeing Brannstrom play more readily.

Chabot - shrug
Brannstrom - hmmm
Phaneuf's retained salary - Borowiecki

That's a great piece for the Sens considering they dealt Stone with half an hour to go and he's a UFA.  Brannstrom could be an elite dman

I don't like it. It's too good for Ottawa. Brannstrom is enough for them to do well in this deal, unless they somehow traded next years' 1st.

Eeesh, no 1st rounder for Stone. That's a little surprising, even if Brannstrom is a great prospect.

Yeah but you have to figure Brannstrom is better than any Vegas first round pick this year that would be in the 20s.  There's a limit to how many pieces you can get for a UFA unless he agreed to an extension with Vegas

The rest of the deal is pretty mediocre, but getting Brannstrom is huge. Vegas seems to be fan of moving out high quality prospects. Suzuki, Brannstrom . . . they don't have a particularly deep prospect pool (thanks to only having been part of 2 drafts), and they're trading most of their top pieces.

Vegas isn't letting go of any of their free top 6 draft picks. They automatically get placed in 3rd last place for the lottery as part of the expansion agreement (for 3 years, I think).

Wow didn't realize that..yeah then they wouldn't put in a first for an expiring contract

I'm pretty sure that's not true. They didn't have a top pick in this past draft.

Not really surprising. You can't just keep taking picks. You need bodies that can actually play now or very soon. This kid looks like one of them. Good trade for the sens.

That was just for their first draft, prior to their first season.
