The Habs Thread - Reloaded

Now how lucky was this guy to have the Montreal Canadians come over to put the lights on his tree.

Habs lost and this is good. They were in danger of tying the Leafs in points (although Leafs do have 2 games in hand)

Looks like this is confirmed. I just got a TSN text alert reporting the change.

TSN has more clout that the Habs own website? lol

Happy he's gone, never cared for him.  I wonder who's next in line though.  Would be nice if Boucher or Muller were still in the organization.

A week before Christmas though? I mean come on! Would waiting a week have killed you guys?

Maybe.

I'm happy they wouldn't let a religious holiday impact a business decision.  I know xmas is a little different but you have to separate the two completely.

Ah yes, I'll have to remember that the time I pass the good Salvation Army people heading in to the LCBO. "Sorry, folks... bad business decision." Bah Humbug!

How is that similar in any way?

Similar in that a loonie to me is about as significant as waiting a week to fire Martin would have been to the Habs... Not very. Honestly, they could have waited.

Edit: ... and it's s chicken**** move by a GM who deserves his release as much (probably more) than the coach did.

Well Martin IS (or, I guess, was) in a working position where these types of moves not only happen frequently, but ultimately inevitably (to anyone not named Lindy). This was a long time coming and he still collects his hefty paycheck. Not that he should be celebrating his ousting but it's a little ridiculous to compare this situation to the Salvation Army.

It's a bah humbug Christmas thing... Don't read much more into it... I know the Habs aren't a charity but I cannot for the life of me comprehend the timing.

I think part of the problem is that you're equating an NHL coach being removed from his position with a traditional firing. Martin's losing his position and his responsibilities, which sucks and all, but, he is still employed by the Montreal Canadiens - it's just that his title/responsibilities/etc are, right now, non-existant.

Fair enough... It's a point I hadn't previously considered.
