MISCELLANOUS NOTES
* Kadri was running away with the Points race a month ago.  He fell off badly after that and Kessel closed most of the ground.  Reimer also did well this last month.

* Defensemen never get as many accolades as forwards or goalies, so my measure for them is Number of Games Receiving Votes and Percentage of Games Receiving Votes.  Franson and Phaneuf were far and away our best defensemen this year.  I think Franson's percentage of 0.400, while not in the top 5, is pretty impressive.

* Van Riemsdyk's numbers continued to reflect his boom-or-bust play.  In the 12 games he got votes, he won accolades in 10 of them.  It seems either he was great, or he was invisible (although somebody posted a good point -- he rarely gets credit for screening a lot of shots).  All in all, though I wanted to see more from JVR, he did his job.

* The play of my pick for MVP, Jay McClement, is not well-represented in the MotM voting.  Again, as someone pointed out in the MVP thread, he alone is not responsible for the improved PK.  But I stick with him as my personal pick for MVP.  Many nights he got the PK off to a great start by winning a puck battle and then getting the puck out of the zone so the PKers could change.  He was terrific.

R1G1:

MotM: Bozak.  Won faceoffs even though he still looks hurt.
HM: Grabovski.  He competed like Kadri and Lupul didn't.  They need to take notes.

Shoutout to JVR too.
The defense was awful except for Franson ... who must have gotten dinged since he never seemed to be on the ice for the last 2 periods.

Reimer also let in a softie but otherwise was good.

R1G1: Boston 4-1.  MotM: van Riemsdyk (4/1).  HM: Komarov (0/4).  Others: Grabovski (2/1), Bozak (1/1), Reimer (1/0).

R1G2: Lupul, HM JVR

A shoutout to Kulemin too - only 1 assist on the scoresheet, but he played well.  I saw him outmuscle Lucic, which is no small feat, at least twice.

Good kudos to Kulemin.  He almost buried that backhander too.

And Drummond: good HM to Gunnar, he rarely gets recognized but deserves it.

MotM: Lupul.
HM: Grabovski ... but with a very large tip of the hat to Phil Kessel and James Reimer.
