The Official Complaint Thread!

Went to the hospital on Tuesday with heart palpitations/fast heart rate. Was watching a movie, just came on. Now it happens once in a while, but usually while performing exercise. I'm frustrated as all hell now. And I'm still bloody young! My body sucks.

Has it been diagnosed? Is it simply anxiety, or an underlying issue? I get palpitations and a fast heart rate some times, but that's mostly attributable to anxiety (and constantly thinking about the onset of another episode).

There are times however when I exercise, or just am at rest, when my heart "races" (like 200+ beats a minute; it's PSVT) Scariest thing I've had, but consulting with my doctor and a cardiologist and they assure me it's not overly serious.

Hope everything works out.

Not yet diagnosed. Probably gonna go Tuesday. It's really strange. I think it could be anxiety induced, I just found out about a serious illness to a member of the family, so that's been weighing on me in addition to the other stuff (getting ahead at work etc. etc.). It's odd though, only that one time did I have a high heart rate, maybe 140 with palpitations. Since then it's been mostly exercise induced, or movement induced, whatever you want to call it. Speed walking this morning caused it to flutter/palpitate for a good 15 seconds.

Hopefully it's something silly like an electrolyte imbalance or something, or it will resolve entirely on its own. I really don't want to deal with illnesses right now. I just want to get fit, and now I can't even do that.

Time to vent here. When I originally moved to K/W, I was living in Waterloo. 3 years ago I moved to downtown Kitchener to be closer to work and not have to rely on transit at 1am. Every election I get calls regarding who I'm going to vote for. Not a big deal until they called a provincial by-election in my old riding. I keep getting calls from the parties as well as pollsters asking who I'm going to vote for. What really bugs me are the automated calls where there is no option to tell them to f*** off as I don't live in the riding anymore.

My plan is to tell them that i'll vote for whoever removes the stupid bylaws preventing me from widening my driveway.  Thats all i really want.

Well, I've gotta wear a holter monitor starting tomorrow, so I get to look like an Android for a couple days. Woohoo!

Bummer. Stress test for me on Wednesday. I'm assuming you started there?

Actually no. I went to emerg for some really weird tachycardia and heart palpitations. They gave me some meds and told to see cardiologist who recommended more tests, ultrasound and holter monitor. Long day tomorrow. I think no stress test because my heart is already kinda wonky at rest.

Good luck on your stress test and definitely keep me posted.

Thanks... Yeah, I was recently diagnosed with an enlarged left ventricle which my GP discovered through an irregular heartbeat and ECG. Wednesday's stress test should tell whether or not I have to go for an angiogram which I really hope I don't have to do.

Good luck back 'atch - Karma sent your way.

If you get one that lights up, you can pretend you're Iron Man!!!

all kidding aside, I had to wear one about two years ago as well when I was having palpitations and it was the most annoying thing ever.  Best of luck!

Hey thanks man. Just a quick update: Today was a long day. I was all over the hospital from 830am until 200pm. Took more blood/other samples, did an ultrasound of stomach/renal function, heart ultrasound, ECG and now I'm all androided up for the next couple days. Good news is my heartbeat looks pretty normal. Bad news is it was at 90 at rest =/ I hate tachycardia. I won't really know any news for the next couple of weeks so hopefully not much happens between now and then.

Good stuff. Here's hpoing for some more good news... T-minus a little less than 3 hours 'till my stress test. I think I'm coming down with something and I didn't sleep well... I'm really not in the mood for this.

Sounds like the test should almost be over. Any updates?

Much easier then I thought it would be. Thanks for asking. They basically hook you up, lie you down on your side then on your back and ultrasound your heart. You hop on the treadmill and when you're done, they lie you down for another ultrasound. For some reason, they only wanted to get my heart rate to 154. Starting from a walk, to a medium(ish) jog, it only took about 8 minutes to get there. Again, not really strenuous at all. They took my blood pressure before hand it was in the mid 130s over 70 something which is still rather high for my likeing. They didn't take it afterwards and I'm puzzeled as to why that is.

I have no idea what my results are. They go to a cardiologist and then to my GP who will call me. I suppose I just wait.  :-\

So, how much longer now, C-3P0?

Yeah, waiting really is the hardest part. I have no idea what my results are either. I know something's not right, I just don't know what exactly lol.

Brought the wrong electronics book to college and forgot my PLC's book at home, so I have 1/3 text books for classes today, going to be one of those days I guess *facepalm*

My wife is happy (I'm sure) that my back is pretty clean but up front, I'm a rather hairy dude. A spin-off complaint I have from this test is the two big holes I know have from where they shaved me. Seriously, it looks like there were two seperate brush fires!  I can't bring myself to shave it to even things out.

Big boys weekend at the lake coming up after this weekend. Do I get flamed more for shaving my chest or looking kind of like Steve Carell in the 40-year-old virgin?

Sorry, just got this now.  Turns out, because I was on sinus medication at the time , that one of the side effects can be an increased blood pressure and heart rate.  So that, combined with some stress from work and hunting for a new apartment, my heart basically just went ballistic for a few hours, but eventually calmed down and wasn't a long term issue.

Yeah, the heart can be a pretty sensitive organ. I had some irregular heartbeats that were generally related to my asthma medication and stress. You sometimes never know what can cause a weird heartbeat. :(
