On Saturday night, I was fortunate enough to come into contact with a 1958 Gibson Explorer, Korina, and a Bigsby.... once in a lifetime...... sweet

Whoa...Really?!?!?!

Whose was it? There are only about 200 of them in existence!

(Unless it's one of the 'new' model re-issues?)

Friend of a friends from LA actually... he was doing some session stuff in Toronto this past weekend... we checked em out online and found a 2009 reissue on eBay in the $7500 range... His dad gave him the guitar 15 years ago..... its been in his family for over 40 years.... awesomely (I know thats not a word but its all I can come up with) sweet rig....

That's an incredibly valuable guitar, the '58 flying V's are worth around 150k+ now, I think the  '58 Explorer is worth more...

Agree... I was extremely lucky to say the least. Thats like handing someone the keys to your Bugatti Veyron or something.... he remains married to music, and plays the guitar rather than stash it.... as he said, "it makes its own music even when its not being used... I can hear it"

I think he kind of got pegged for those pinch harmonics with Ozzy, outside of that I don't notice it as much... but yeah he's the real deal.

I mentioned Martin Sexton in the listening thread, what a combination with that voice and that guitar...

I know it's Uke and a bit of a novelty but it still makes me smile...

Here's a cat, big influence for me in terms of 'open ears'.

Anyone here played Rocksmith?  I'm waiting for the PC version which is supposed to be out at the end of the month.  Then maybe I'll actually be able to learn the guitar properly. :)

Yes. I have it for the PS3..and just like learning with a teacher, and not just a video game, you still need to practice. I find myself playing on it for two days, like a half hour each time, then not going back to it until a few days later. But overall, the game isn't bad. It won't replace a teacher, but it's a cheaper choice then paying $15 for a half hour instruction many times over.

I'm at my wits end with my guitar amp.

I've got a Peavey Classic 50 212 but the damn thing has thiss peaker buzz/rattle whenever you put on the lead channel. It's maddening and no guitar shop has fixed it. I want to sell it but I'm afraid I can't sell it for anything in the shape it's in right now... but I don't want to spend money getting it fixed.

ie.

No fix = $400 (hopefully)
with fix = $550-600 - $100-200 = $350-500

I don't know if it will be worth it to be honest.

I'm itching to get a Hughes and Kettner Statesman 6L6

This guy was a major influence on me, the song as Hedges describes is about Naomi Uemura who disappeared while climbing Mount McKinley some years back. Hard to argue the title with a guitar like that...

Edit to add, the first time I heard this was from a 'soundpage' in Guitar Player magazine, anyone remember wrestling with them?

I know it might be obvious but Jimmy Page has to be the best "technical" guitarist ever.
