Well, you may agree with me there, but you're going to hate me now...

Marincin is not an NHL defenseman.  I get that none of the other options are good either, and maybe this is the devil that Babcock knows, but come on...this guy again?

They're going to have some problems this year if some injuries creep up.

Marincin is pretty fine for bottom-pairing duties, and he checks a ton of boxes in 700k. Plays both sides of the D pair, PK specialist, can actually skate (better than Ceci at the moment) and move the puck into the right zone.

You do realize that this very true statement thrusts a rapier into the heart of any Leafs Cup hopes, right?

Ceci taking up $4M and we have to cut corners to have guys like Gauthier (sorry Whisperer ) on the roster.

They wan't Goat in the locker room because he's a great guy, 6'5 every shift and takes the guys out on Taco Tuesday for dinner.

Seriously, though, somebody making millions is getting traded: Hyman, Ceci, maybe one of Johnsson/Kappy (ugh).  This kind of pridhamizing on the edge of a cliff all season is horsecrap.

Yes on a serious note it sucks.  IMO I'd rater trade Ceci's cap for literally anything and gamble with the D we have than trade any of Hyman/Kappy/Mango.

You've only been here for an hour or so but already you've established a high level of sagacity.  Well done.

New to the forums, but not new to over analyzing the Leafs roster for years. lol

His name is GoatWhisperer- I'd question his sagacity.

(But he's right that Ceci should be moved well before any of Hyman, Mango, Kappy)

Hey now...stick to lecturing people on in intricacies of the CBA and LTIR and leave the roster composition to the professionals!  ;)

I thought someone said that Timashov was exempt?

I said, specifically, that he was now eligible for, i.e. no longer exempt from waivers. And of the players on that list, he'd be the worst one to lose.

I think he has a great chance to make the team coming out of camp and goes on the 4th line, maybe the 3rd. I don't think the Leafs want to take a chance and lose him on waivers.

lmao

And you know had the Leafs actually drafted Thomas instead of Liljegren back then the Simmons article would have been  "Leafs miss out on steal Timothy Liljegren at 17!"

What is this in reference to?

Ever since finding out who he was while accidentally watching a St. Louis Blues playoff game this spring Simmons has been saying that the Leafs screwed up by not picking Robert Thomas, and that "some people" in the organization wanted him at the time but were overruled by the Liljegren selection.

Simmons probably blocked the guy for pointing out what Simmons said at the time of the draft.

Simmons and Cox are what's known in the business as "residue": guys still stuck in their old legacy-format outlets when everyone else who's any good has moved on to new platforms that people actually read, like The Athletic.

Tavares times two! Finally practicing those empty net situations.

No more placeholders on PP2.

Barrring an absolute disaster of a performance in the final couple of games, sure seems like Sandin and Timashov are poised to start opening night.
