Ok, I'll start with a Nik-style classice conversation starting hot take: I hope that, regardless of the outcome, this election leads to good governance and a successful future for the country.

We should start the Good Governance Party.

I suggest a solid beige for our colours.

VOTE GGP!!!

Won't hockey please return soon so we can criticize marginal 4th liners again?

We could start talking about the election if you like.

It's always fun when the last name of a person fits their personality.  Even better when they lead one of our major parties.

What a mess in Afghanistan.

So, maybe this attempt of exporting democracy wasn't a sustainable plan.

I like to think that at least the "coalition" saved a bunch of lives over the past 20 years.

Maybe I'm just a cynic, but that was definitely not the intention, and in any case, 'exporting' your value system on another land and peoples is just good old fashioned imperialism.

Yeah. The U.S. basically created a lose-lose situation for themselves. If they stay? The endless war complaints will just get louder and louder, and they're spending a bunch of money to maintain the less than great (but better than the alternative) status quo. If they leave? Well, we know what happens there.

Without completely eliminating the Taliban - which, if they couldn't after 20 years of fighting, it's probably not possible, and was never going to be possible without a lot more support from the Afghanis than they're capable of providing - there just wasn't a good option.

I guess. But at only half the cost of what they spent saving those lives they could have taken in 500,000 refugees and given them a million dollars each.

The replies are awesome. The Irish are absolutely savage roasters of strangers and friends alike.

It's true. The more brutal the abuse, the more comfortable you should feel as it's a sign of the utmost affection.

Things might be slow here but at least it's not "Sabres UFA future: Auston Matthews, Patrick Kane and other potential targets from 2022-25" slow like it is at the Athletic right now.

That article is hilarious. Excellently crafted comedy.

Oh, it's supposed to be serious? Really? Are you sure? Huh...

Surely, you jest.

Burton was awful in his guest hosting job.  He did no prep for the show and it really showed.

Jennings or Buzzy would be better fits.

Mayim Bialik veers dangerously close to 'Mommy Blog' science despite her background for my liking.

Grifting your own supporters seems to be a smooth-brained approach.
