Politicians don't get off that easy. The xenophopic anti-immigration fear mongering from the leave side was deplorable, even worse than Harper vs Hijab was in our last election campaign.

Oh, no doubt, the Leave side are atrocious people. But it's still up to the voters to not be morons and follow them off the cliff. It's not like this was an elected government making a unilateral move to turf the EU. It was a referrendum vote so there was ample opportunity to turn away from a racist lying group.

I don't understand why it was left to a referendum. If you have a referendum on this why isn't there referendums for other huge decisions (like going to war)? The average person probably cannot understand the complexities of the situation.
