That'd be a beautiful bridge deal that we could only dream of...

EvolvingWild had him pegged for $5.9mil on a 3-year deal. So even for a bridge deal this seems low.

How does evolving wild base their predictions? They had Gardiner at $6M for a 4 year deal which was way off.

You can read a pretty detailed explanation of their model here: https://hockey-graphs.com/2019/05/17/projecting-nhl-skater-contracts-for-the-2019-offseason/

As for Gardiner, I'm not really sure there's anything to gleam from that. Everyone seems to understand that Gardiner came in well below market value. That happens sometimes.

Never underestimate the importance of the team's salary structure I guess. Nobody on Columbus is making more than 6 million and Jones is only at 5.4.

I immediately went to check on his Marner prediction (because why wouldn't I?) And he's got Marner at 8 years $9.6M which would be an absolute homerun deal for the Leafs.  Given where we're at that seems like an impossible pipe dream.  He also has an 8 year deal as the most probable outcome at 42.6%. I wish.

Just a very minor point that you might not actually care about, but it's actually two people that run that account/site. Twin brothers.

It was an amazing day when hockey Twitter learned that news.

This news doesn't make me any happier about the current state of the Marner negotiation. :(
