Western Conference final: (3) Phoenix Coyotes vs. (8) Los Angeles Kings

I have to say, the fact that the number of shorthanded goals they've scored is equal to the number of PP goals they've allowed is pretty remarkable. Five SH goals would have had them tied for 13th during the regular season. That's a 29 SH goal pace for a full season which would be the highest total by a comfortable margin for as long as NHL.com's stats go back.

So Richards and Carter weren't really a distraction, huh.

They distracted the Flyers from winning the Cup, now they'll take it home with LA.

8-0 on the road for LA, unreal. Brown's knee looked bad (Rozsival?), though I think he was going for the shoulder from the one replay I saw, probably viewed as bad contact versus intentional but he might get a look for it.

It looked like he stuck his knee out a little further as he was about to make contact, but, it's hard to tell definitively whether it was to make a knee on knee hit or just to brace himself for the impending contact. He certainly didn't go out of his way to stick his knee out further - it moved maybe an inch or two. Could go either way on this one.

From the video, I couldn't conclude one way or the other whether there was any intent. I have my doubts there was.

I did wonder, like a player who is careless with his stick or a player who impedes another's progress and therefore interferes, whether he should have received a minor but even that was kind of fuzzy for me to decide. If he'd slowed or knocked him down/tripped him with his stick or an arm when he missed the hit, it would be pretty clear cut - inadvertent or otherwise. So I'm not sure that using his knee to knock him down, even inadvertently, deserves a free pass, because he was intent on at least hitting him. I probably would have given him a minor though I'm open and realize there might be a fair debate to be made on the other side.

Looked at that one again and I think Brown could have had a penalty for a late hit on the play but I'm leaning away from supplementary discipline.

The league seems to feel similarly in terms of supplemental discipline.

kausatoday: No hearing scheduled on Dustin Brown hit. http://t.co/QMt9cOz6

I thought the Phoenix knee-on-knee (was it Morris?) earlier in the series was worse, and even that I didn't think was suspension worthy.
