Western Conference Final: Game 1: Vegas Golden Knights (1) vs. Dallas Stars (3)

Heck, this team can barely draw powerplays during the regular season so it isn't surprising that we can't draw them in the postseason.  The style absolutely has to change to at least be one that scores better 5on5 and can't rely on guys dancing around defenders because they are given carte blanche to hook and hold on zone entries in the postseason.

JT and JS sign as UFAs with Toronto to get a better shot at the Cup.
NYI gets to ECF. DAL gets to SCF.

I think Spezza leaving Dallas was a mutual decision, but yeah that would be a little sad for him. Tampa probably has this one though.

I totally forgot about this.  If Dallas wins the Cup he'll probably be super pissed.  Reminds me of when Jeff O'Neill was traded to the Leafs and the Canes win the Cup right away after he's gone.

By all accounts it was a mutual parting of the waves between Spezza and Dallas.
Felt bad for O Dog then. He wanted to come home after his brother died and Carolina granted his wish a few weeks after. How about Marcel Aubut selling the Nordiques and they win in their first year in Colorado. Would suck being a Nordiques fan.

aaaaaaaand

Want Tampa to win without Stamkos. I don't like how he used the leafs when he was a UFA and really had zero intentions of leaving TBay. So for them to win it without him, priceless.

I never got that impression.  What I read was that the Leafs used a really aggressive pitch on him, and he was a little put off by it.  The Leafs had the head of Canadian Tire there, as well as some other Leafs bigwigs, and the pitch was all about how he was going to be the face of this or that, and he wasn't interested in that aspect of it.  He wanted to just play hockey.

That's why the Leafs had a different approach for Tavares.

SI is correct. They went full corporate with Stamkos and it scared him off. They went hockey nerd with Tavares and tapped into the robot?s programming. The Leafs sounds like they?re going to have a very good shot at pitching Pietrangelo next month.
