Winnipeg Jets Thread

So the loss to the lightning officially eliminates them....

The Winnipeg Jets haven't made the playoffs since 1996?

Jets coach chats with fan, fan tells media.

I actually find that kind of disappointing.  I'm pretty sure that personal conversations aren't intended for the press.  There also isn't a level of personal accountability for the fan the next time Noel steps in front of a mic if he disputes anything that was written.

... media make it sound like some incredible revelation was said by the coach.  There are a few things in there he probably wishes were not public but nothing said was really all that bad.

Funny thing is, media types have conversations all the time with players and management and at least let on they know more than they are allowed to publish, but when it comes from a fan apparently it's fair game to print it.  They never do themselves any favors, do they?

I don't get how the Globe can even publish this article. What proof does this guy have that the conversation even happened? Unreal.

I know coaches are fans of the game too, and they speak very differently away from the cameras, but a few of those "quotes" really seem like fan-filtered statements.

I missed this part of the article the first time, but apparently this fan had a picture of himself and Noel taken, and the Globe didn't think to put it in the article? There's no way.

There's no proof of much of anything here, and it's doubtful a coach would divulge so much information on his thoughts about the team to someone he doesn't know, if at all.

Besides, to have done so, hypothetically-speaking, would downgrade player confidence in their coach thinking that he tells all for all the world to know.
If there are things that a coach needs to talk about over, there are plenty of people within the organization to do so with.  Not, obviously, with a stranger.

Apparently the Jets schedule has been leaked on twitter, not sure how accurate it is.

Evander Kane has a new haircut and it was generating plenty of buzz on social media on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. The Winnipeg Jets left-winger didnt go into detail about what the YMCMB stands for or provide any context about what it means to him, but did say it was inspired by rapper Lil Wayne. (Twitter)

Is this guy ever going to mature?

:o lol what?

Are you jealous of his hair?
yea, that must be it, not the fact that he is on a Canadian team and a role model to many kids because of that.

Crosby 2
Jets 0

Kind of glad I traded tickets to tonight's game for the Boston game in March :-D

Who cares what is on Kane's hair or what pictures he takes of himself?  As long as they aren't racist/offensive/etc it shouldn't be your concern.

You can still shake your head at it though. You know, in the same way these meat heads wear their pants around their knees, etc. It's exactly the same thing. No it isn't my concern but I can still think it's ridiculous.

Sure shake your head if you want, but so far you've publicly called someone you don't know a meathead so it goes slightly more than that.  Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but I don't see what concern it is of people whose only connection to him is as a hockey player.

And for Jets fans, if you want to keep publicly ripping on/criticizing your best players....well good luck with that.
