Yzerman stepping down in Tampa

Maybe it's just me but I don't really get the heading to Detroit angle in a professional sense. If that was the idea why not just resign?

Wow. Totally out of the blue.

Bit weird to do it virtually on eve of camps opening.  Something doesn?t smell right.
 
It's actually because he needs to spend time working out so that he can beat Bergevin in an arm wrestling contest.  He already beat him in a trade.  It's the last step to Yzerman's total domination of the NHL.
