2 Boston Bruins vs 7 Washington Capitals

I've never been to Boston but know lots of people who have... Maybe BostonLeaf can verify this but it is my understanding that there are a bunch of Irish there who just don't take too kindly to Blacks being out of night and as a result, there are parts of Boston where Blacks just don't dare go out at night. - Sadly, its just by in large such a racist town as I understand it.

Well I am a Boston Irish.. and I lived here my whole life.. But like other cities there is racism anywhere. Sure there are parts of Boston that are not safe depending on the color of your skin which is pathetic..But there are some wonderful areas here where things like this do not matter..I think those racist comments were by those internet tough guys who are insecure and think they are cool by posting such garbage..

To be clear, I'm not bashing Boston as a city or the Irish. I'm also told it's just a gorgeous city too. I'm just led to believe that Boston in particular is exceptionally bad for the gang/racial stuff. - FWIW.

Wow didn't hear about all those Twitter comments with Joel Ward until this morning.  Sickening.

I think as a whole the US is still a fairly racist country - not sure how different Boston is from say Sanford Florida.

For a big cosmopolitan city? Boston has a history of having some fairly significant problems with race even as it relates to sports. The Red Sox were the last MLB team to integrate, a full 12 years after Jackie Robinson came into the league. Bill Russell said that the racial taunts and epithets from Celtics fans almost made him walk away from the game.

Boston had riots over the desegregation of public schools in 1974 and lots of prominent people have said it remains a racially charged city.

I didn't take any offense at all Sarge.. There are some rough areas as I mentioned. There are some areas where I would enter wther it be day or night.. But I see that in many metropolitan areas across the country... Whats ironic is Boston/Massachusetts is considered one of the more liberal areas of the coutnry.. But there are still gangs in some areas.. still some old school skinheads etc..

That's disgusting - I didn't know that at all.
