2011-2012 Waivers thread

Well, I'm going with the belief that AHL teams need players too.

Well, then they'd just have to throw that player right back on waivers to either be claimed by someone else or, most likely, returned to their original team who can then bypass waivers and send him down to their AHL team.

I guess.

Stewart is being waived? I'd like to know why before claiming him, seems like a cheap useful player, just what Carolina needs...

Yeah, I was wondering that too.  6'3" 230 lbs, 6 goals and +4 on a team that Eric Staal is -24.

My guess is all 3 players clear. Stewart just isn't the type of player most want him to be and hasn't been effective enough at being the type of player he appears to want to be. Hamill, while still young and with some potential, doesn't look like he's NHL ready (though, some of that may have to do with the depth on the Bruins - he probably needs top 6 type minutes/linemates). And Murray . . . well, he's a dime a dozen type bottom 6 type.

Orr's on the IR, fwiw.

Oh, didn't know that. So maybe Rosehill is needed down there, if not just simply to have some muscle for the troops playoffs.

If the Leafs brought someone in I think you're right, until then I think he probably remains on the fringe with the big club.

The Anthony Stewart/should we pick him up off waivers/ topic should be filed under the same one as Patrick O'Sullivan: Answer: no.

There is a between the ears issue with this guy considering the number of times he has been moved and his inability to stick even on a lousy team.  Avoid.

Not to mention the whole 50 contract limit thing. The Leafs are at 48 or 49 if I'm not mistaken. There is no reason to waste possibly the last spot on a guy like Stewart.

The Leafs roster is far from perfect, but I think it is beyond the "let's pick up a guy who hasn't ever shown signs of meeting any of his potential" kind of acquisitions.

I though there might have been a claim or two... But;

TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie
Anthony Stewart (CAR), Zach Hamill (BOS), Andrew Murray (SJS) all cleared waivers.

TSNBobMcKenzie: Players on waivers today will clear or be claimed Mon noon. If team wants to clear roser spot or cap space, waivers today are required.

StapeNewsday: #Isles news: Brian Rolston on waivers, David Ullstrom recalled from Bridgeport.
I could see Rolston getting claimed.  He might be a nice veteran depth pick-up for a contending team.

Can't see anyone paying over a mill for this guy for the rest of the year......he's done imo.

TSNBobMcKenzie: Wolski not on waivers. But these guys are: Ryan Russell and Clitsome (CBJ), Boulton (NJD), Staubitz (MIN), Kolanos (CGY). Staubitz re-entry.
