2011-2012 Waivers thread

Man, O'Sullivan can't seem to make it work anywhere... At the same time however, teams just can't seem to resist taking a chance.

I suspect he's running out of them. Maybe there's one team left but I have some doubts about that.

Waived by Edmonton and cleared
Traded for immediate buyout by Phoenix
Late UFA signing by Canes
Waived by Canes and picked up by Wild
Waived by Wild and clears to AHL
Signed by Phoenix as late UFA and now waived

Doesn't look good. Europe is calling

TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie
WPG claims Ben Maxwell on waivers from ANA. Patrick O'Sullivan (PHX) clears waivers.

A 1.5 hit for him? That's not bad, I can see why the Jets claimed him.

Sucks for Miettinen if part of the reason for signing in TB was the weather.  :o

It has been really nice there so far this year, -2 the last week, some days are in the +'s, barely any snow, eat it bryzgalov.

Sportsnet ticker says that Dallas is about to put Andrew "team record" Raycroft on waivers. is this the end?

2-8 .898 I guess those numbers aren't helping his cause

Funny, but his save percentage is right in the range of some people we know:

RK PLAYER               TEAM GP W L OTL GAA  SVPCT
53 James Reimer, G     TOR 15   7   3 3 2.94 .901
54 Cam Ward, G         CAR 32 12 14 5 3.19 .898
Jonas Gustavsson, G  TOR 17   9   7 0 3.27 .898
Andrew Raycroft, G   DAL 10   2   8 0 3.51 .898

But the GAA kinda sticks out. He also has been putting up these kind of numbers for a few years now - I'm actually surprised he's lasted as long as he has. He isn't getting any younger, either.

I missed that he was waived in the first place but Colton Gillies was claimed by the Blue Jackets... One of those guys I thought was going to much better... I remember having an eye on him on draft day.

I was going to say Tampa... but maybe they feel they're too far gone.

Yeah, it's a tough one, because the teams that really need a goalie are largely out of the race already and probably not all that interested in a pending UFA who hasn't played an NHL game this season and put up less than impressive numbers during his conditioning stint. Maybe Pittsburgh or Ottawa might see him as an upgrade on their current backup, but, I'm not sure there will be a lot of interest in him.

Calgary could be a suitor.  They've gotten all but 1 win from their backups, and Nitty likely presents a better option to spell Kiprusoff from a game or two down the stretch here.  And of course, there's the Finnish factor.

Maybe, though, despite his record, Irving's played pretty well in 3 of his 4 starts.

TB has won 4 in a row and might not be dead yet.  Picking him up would make them better.  If Yzerman can find at least one solid d-man I think they are a threat again.

“@tomppaaax: Niittymäki: "I don't want to be in this organization at all anymore, nothing wrong with city. Glad they did it, hope somebody picks me up."”

Did something get lost in translation?  That seems pretty harsh...
