2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Four hits, six walks. That triple play really helped out - it could have been a lot worse than only 2 runs.

Arencibia starting to hit again. Two singles, two RBI, 2-2 in the 8th, bases loaded none out for Bautista...

Edit: Bautista singles, 3-2 Jays!!!
Edit2: Lind grounds out against a lefty. Willner was talking about this on the FAN today, where he might pinch hit for Lind against a lefty late in a close game in a situation like this because of his abysmal average against lefties. But E5 follows up with a sac fly. :)

According to Wikipedia, tonight's TP was only the 685th since 1876. - Only happens roughly 5 times a year.

First triple play the Jays have turned since September 1979. Also, the first triple play the Royals have hit into since June 1979.

I'm glad that the Jays came back to win last night. It would have seemed to be a shame with the triple play and all. :)

Raise your hand if the blown triple play call from the World Series 20 years ago still bugs you just a little.

21 year old Drew Hutchison is starting for the Jays tonight. Very young, and in my mind, still very raw. But he has pretty good stuff and threw well against the minor leaguers. Hasn't played about AA though. I fear he may be being rushed due to the lack of capable starters, but Anthopolous is a wiser man than I.

My guess is it's a one start, maybe two, and back to AA type situation. Give him a taste of what pitching at the MLB level is like so he can go back and keep working with that in mind.

Didn't expect Bautista to have been the worst Jay at the plate tonight (0-5). Every other starter had a hit, and at the end of the night, he has the second lowest average of all the regulars at .200 (Arencibia is .186).

Nice to see Hutchison get the win after a shaky 5th inning.

Johnson with a pretty much all around great game.

Morrow 6.2 IP, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K.  He's pitched much better on the road than at home the last year or so.

Some of the bats look like they might be starting to come around, though, they're still struggling with inconsistency. Overall, things seem to be progressing in the right direction, but, it's still so early.

Yeah, it hasn't been perfect by any means, but hard to to be disappointed with a 10-6 start and tied for first in the AL East. Like you said, it's still early.
